Summary
The Manager, Local Marketing Strategy is responsible for driving growth in local markets by leveraging customer insights to develop & execute on exceptional marketing strategies. The Manager will lead a team of internal & external (agency) marketers, analysts & a direct report team of regional marketing managers prioritize key markets and implement marketing plans that directly contribute to Marketing Department & company goals.
Responsibilities
* Prioritize and allocate focus and spending towards local markets to optimize overall marketing performance - Partner with insights and analytics team on local learning agenda, mix model insights, testing insights, reporting and market prioritization methodology - Consult with regional partners to monitor local market performance trends, competitive and market dynamics and consumer insights - Analyze all inputs to develop optimal budget allocation across markets including a strategy for addressing all markets as well as determining any necessary "focus markets" * Create local plans that drive local sales performance - Develop plans to address each market's unique opportunities in partnership with marketing, agency and field partners including marketing channel/media strategy and messaging strategy - Regularly monitor performance and adjust plans accordingly - Broadly communicate plans to all relevant stakeholders * Partner with internal and external partners to create and deploy marketing materials to support local plans - Partner with marketing services team to open work orders with internal or external media and creative teams - Write strategic briefs to clarify the goals and messaging priorities of the executions and provide input throughout the development process - Keep stakeholders updated on progress and final outcomes * Build, manage and develop team of Regional Marketing Managers responsible for execution and support of local activities across the country - Create role definition for regional managers with marketing and field partners - Hire a high performing team of regional marketing managers - Ensure consistent execution to the outlined job responsibilities - Develop managers to be strong strategic partners and brand ambassadors in the field * Develop & execute marketing strategies for 10-15 new store openings annually, ensuring that every store is set up to achieve sales expectations - Create role definition for regional managers with marketing and field
Ideal Candidate
* Ability to develop a marketing strategy supported by research and data. * Experience with a range of marketing channels (broadcast, digital, direct marketing, collateral, etc.). * Strong business acumen & understanding of performance metrics (ROI, incremental sales, etc.). * Experience managing a marketing budget. * Extensive experience leading cross-functional teams across different levels and functions, building relationships & motivating team members. * Experience leading field marketing personnel, ideally in a retail environment * Excellent written & verbal communication skills. * Ability to think logically & creatively to develop solutions. * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines. * Excellent attention to detail and organization. **Education and Experience:** * Four-year BA/BS degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or related field, MBA preferred * Four to six years of marketing experience (ideally in a regional or local role) * Retail experience is a plus
