Summary
The Disability and Absence Management Consultant role is an exciting opportunity to join a well-known national firm that is growing exponentially. In this role you will support a region working with clients to control health and group benefits plan costs, improve health outcomes and promote employee engagement through broad-based, state-of-the-art interventions. The ideal candidate will have strong technical industry knowledge, preferably in an underwriting capacity for an insurance company, brokerage, or consulting firm.
Responsibilities
* Focus on the design and implementation of highly customized time-off and disability/absence management programs for client groups, as well as the evaluation, ongoing management, and measurement of these programs. * Collaborate with other practices to provide integrated benefits strategies and solutions for clients. * Provide technical content knowledge and skills applicable to a variety of group benefits and programs including Sick Pay, Salary Continuance, Statutory Disability, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, Family and Medical Leave (FML), Vacation and Paid Time-Off (PTO), Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance. * Serve as the project manager and day-to-day communication liaison with clients, create client deliverables, contribute to client management and new business activities, and participate in the creation of intellectual capital. * Draft statements of work, project plans and budgets involving multiple workflow streams and client teams. * Oversee the day-to-day project leaders, ensuring the progress of the teams against established objectives, budgets, timelines, deliverables, and quality standards, * Serve as primary daily contact to clients on delivery of services. * Interface with colleagues from other practices and regions on assignments that reflect the clients broader business issues. * Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects. * Provide value-added consulting expertise on large, sophisticated projects including plan design/strategy; modeling, cost analyses, funding, and employee contribution strategies; vendor analysis, selection, negotiations, and procurement; ongoing plan management including evaluation of program performance and trend, and vendor audits; benchmarking studies and analyses; and plan compliance and audits. * Meet new business revenue and billable hours goals established with your manager. * Support the generation of new business by enhancing relationships with current clients and recommending new projects and solutions.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree required. * 7-10 years of professional experience and success in the design and management of group disability and absence management plans gained in a consulting, brokerage, or carrier environment. * Strong financial skills with prior experience in group health and welfare product pricing, underwriting or valuation work preferred. * Proven experience successfully managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget. * Pursuit of CEBS designation, or group health and welfare actuarial or underwriting training desired. * Working knowledge with Microsoft Office tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
