Performance Test Engineer

Capital One Financial Corporation, incorporated in July 21, 1994, is a diversified banking company focused primarily on consumer and commercial lending and deposit origination. Its principal business segments are Local Banking and National Lending.

• Strong application performance engineering experience
• Java/J2EE development experience with a strong and proven passion for software performance tuning
• Experience analyzing, profiling and tuning Java source code, database queries, web/application servers and infrastructure with the aim of making systems more resilient and scalable
• Passion for automation and federation of fully automated performance tools to delivery teams for data gathering for analysis
• Solid understanding of system architecture and design principles
• Experience building or using open source tools for automated log analysis, monitoring web, app and DB layers
• Experience in proactive performance engineering as well as reactive performance remediation activities in production
• Solid understanding of operating systems and networking
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and NoSQL
• Knowledge of any performance testing tool (Jmeter, Grinder or similar)

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree
• At least 5 years in Java and database performance tuning and solving performance issues
• At least 3 years of Java/J2EE development experience building RESTful services
• At least 3 years of experience in SOAP Web Services
• At least 2 years in APM tool New Relic
• At least 2 years in log analysis tool Splunk
• At least 2 years of experience in working on Linux environments
• At least 1 year working on AWS environments and remediating performance issues on public cloud environments

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience building and leading a performance engineering taskforce
• 2 years of experience guiding development teams on performance engineering best practices
