Responsibilities
**Summary:** The CRE Construction Loan Specialist analyzes a variety of facets and factors as they relate to Commercial Real Estate Construction loans to provide the most accurate recommendation to senior members on loan documentation and risk assessment. This position provides recommendations to mitigate risk for simple to mildly complex loan situations. *The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed; they are not intended to be an exhaustive or exclusive list of the required responsibilities, duties and skills; Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties and requirements of this position at any time, with or without notice, as business needs dictate.* **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** * Analyzes and monitors Residential loans, Commercial Construction Loans, and Acquisition and Development loans, as well as: * Preparing recommendations to management team regarding how to mitigate risk exposure for each loan under their review. * Review and approve draw requests; schedule Third Party inspections and assess work completed to date accurately reflects draw request so there is no over advancement of loan funds. * Makes recommendations on how to address projects that are over budget or over advanced. * Insures loans are closed out with proper documentation to prevent legal or lien actions and exposure against the borrower and/or Capital Bank. * Produces reports as required by various internal departments, Line of Business Leaders, Senior Management and Board. * Serves as a lead resource on Commercial Real Estate analysis and projects. * Works closely with Senior CRE Construction Loan Specialist to ensure loan documentation consistency. * Completes, passes and maintains an up to date status for all positional and company required compliance and regulatory courses by assigned due date(s). * Participates in special projects and assignments and performs other duties as assigned. *To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.* **Supervisory Responsibilities:** None. **Control Related Responsibilities:** * Become knowledgeable regarding the department's internal controls as outlined in the policies and procedures and comply with all control requirements. **Compliance:** * Ability to comprehend and adhere to Federal and State banking regulations, including compliance with the Bank’s Bank Secrecy Act/Anti Money Laundering (BSA/AML) program. Follows all Company policies and procedures, and successfully participates in regulatory and Company training requirements via multiple and variable delivery methods.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university and a minimum of two to four years related financial institution/commercial construction/real estate or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook. * Ability to gather, validate, analyze and maintain a variety of data from internal and external sources used to provide recommendations. * General understanding of land development and real estate construction techniques and procedures. * Ability to read and listen, understand and communicate information and ideas in a clear and understandable manner, both orally and in writing with senior executives, business unit management and staff, third party vendors, state and federal regulators and officials and significant business partners. * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of data furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. * Strong ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents; performs complex calculations; effectively researches, analyzes and evaluates information to make decisions, solve problems and achieve goals; strong project management skills desired. * Certifications and Licenses: None. **Safety, Security and Confidentiality:** * This position requires keeping complete confidentiality of all customer transactions and information, and paying close attention to security within and around the bank's premises at all times. *The physical demands, travel and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
