Summary
Armstrong Flooring, a division of Armstrong World Industries, Inc., is seeking a Project Manager for our New Product Development (NPD) group at our Corporate campus located in Lancaster, PA. Reporting to the Director of New Product Development, the NPD Project Manager will be involved in all aspects of the new product development process, starting with ideation and the development of key product segment inputs (technology platforms, competitive information, etc.) through to and including commercialization. This is a high profile and visible role within the NPD and Go-To-Market organization that requires a non-compromising commitment towards the successful achievement of targeted objectives.
Responsibilities
* The design and execution of new product development projects within the Armstrong Flooring NPD Organization * Insuring the effective / disciplined use of the NPD process and related sub-processes by all project team and functional support members * Supporting Product Managers in the development of business charters and other key documentation * Managing multi-disciplined project teams in the achievement of selected strategic and tactical objectives * Developing and managing project metrics that monitor project performance against established objectives * Developing and managing project budgets within agreed upon targets * Developing and managing project resource plans through the resource management process * Achieving targeted cost, schedule and product performance objectives * Providing leadership for multi-disciplined and geographically separated project teams * The effective communication of project activities to all key NPD process and business stakeholders * Participating in NPD process ‘stage gate’ meetings, as defined by project and process requirements * Analyzing and recommending improvements in the NPD process and supporting sub-processes * Coaching selected resources in the effective use of project management tools and techniques
Ideal Candidate
* 5+ years of business experience * Proven ability to motivate and drive results in positions without 'direct' management control * Superior organizational and project management skills with a minimum of 2 years in lead project management role(s) * Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills * Strong reasoning and logic skills **Desired Qualifications of the NPD Project Manager:** * Manufacturing plant experience * Process improvement experience, including 6 sigma and lean methodologies
