Summary
Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI) has a job opportunity for an Environment, Health, and Safety Project Manager (EHS) to be located in Lancaster, PA to manage several of our EHS programs and projects across multiple Armstrong World Industries ceiling plants. Reporting to the Global EHS Manager, the EHS Project Manager will be responsible for providing functional excellence and leadership in the EHS cultural transformation in this important area of our business. Additionally, the EHS Project Manager will be coaching, training and mentoring various Plant Managers, Business Managers, Plant EHS Managers and their teams on EHS tools and processes.
Responsibilities
- Providing tactical EHS leadership to designated manufacturing plants and business operations - Providing EHS Project Management - initially in electrical safety assessment, NFPA 70E standardization, and other projects as designated - Preparing improvement activities and events, ensuring proper resourcing and ties to business objectives, conducting post event follow-up, and auditing of results - Leveraging company sites through benchmarking, best practice sharing, and transfer of kaizen activities - Developing and implementing EHS policies and standard operating procedures - Leading selected EHS audits - Developing and implementing safety and environmental management systems - Developing and evaluating plant EHS manager functional capability - Participating and providing input for annual Organization Vitality processes - Integrating with other methodologies and initiatives throughout organization - Providing regular activity reports to business, plant managers and the VP of Manufacturing - Preparing and delivering EHS training as required
Ideal Candidate
**Required Qualifications for the Environment, Health, and Safety Project Manager:** - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Health and Safety or a closely related technical discipline - 5+ years applicable experience in management of environmental affairs, and health and safety systems - Strong change management skills and experience - Proven success designing and meeting KPI goals - Demonstrated strong facilitation skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams - Demonstrated ability to thrive in a complex team environment, to include matrix leadership - Proven history of leading both up and down in an organization. - Ability to establish relationships and influence Senior Leaders and peers, while still being effective on the shop floor **Desired Qualifications for the Environment, Health, and Safety Project Manager:** - Lean or Six Sigma experience demonstrated via certification through an accredited entity or proven project experience - Travel ranges from 50+% depending upon planned initiatives locally and internationally and depends on employee location
