Summary
Argo Surety currently has a challenging opportunity in our Houston, TX office for an Underwriting Support Associate with the primary responsibility of providing administrative support to the underwriters. The position will include contact with agents and clients and processing surety business by inputting new bond transactions and endorsements, updating agency information, and providing general office administrative functions as needed.
Responsibilities
* Assist with execution, renewal, and cancellation of bonds, to include reconciling information, sending letters of cancellation with appropriate copies to respective parties, reinstatement of bonds, etc. * Assist with the management of agency/broker appointments * Update changes to existing account and bond files, which includes verifying information with various parties such as the agent, accounting department, etc. and following up on the status of those requests * Communicate with Home Office staff, Field staff, internal and external customers, attorneys, and Surety IT personnel * File, copy, send overnight packages, order supplies, light reception and related clerical duties as needed * Other clerical and administrative tasks as requested
Ideal Candidate
* 0-3 years of work experience in a professional office environment with surety and other insurance background preferred * Must have strong PC skills, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook * Business math skills for determination of premium amounts, commissions, etc. are critical for success * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to compose routine business correspondence * Ability to exercise good business judgment when handling our clients * Must be detail-oriented, able to manage time and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment * Demonstrates the ability to produce error-free work and achieve high levels of accuracy * Ability to work independently and as a team member in a small office environment * Flexibility to work overtime as needed by position and manager * Previous Surety or underwriting assistant experience is preferred
