Summary
Coordinates quality assurance activities in their area of responsibility through inspection, form development, record review, the supervision of QA Technicians and independent assessment of various situations. Coordinates and/or participates in problem resolution activities. Assists in developing specifications.
Responsibilities
* Supervises activities of QA Technicians. * Serves as a back-up to the technicians during absences. * Prepares and maintains forms used by QA Technicians which identify required testing and expected results. Assists in preparing corrective action suggestions for instances when targets are not achieved. * Reviews all documents prepared by QA Technicians. Follows up on issues and questions in a timely manner. * Oversees entry of information into Movex. Assures entries are correctly completed within the defined timeframe. * Coordinates resolution of problems that arise as a result of observations and product testing. * Places material on hold as required and coordinates investigation to determine final disposition. Releases holds and/or approves donations/disposals in a timely manner. * Follows-up on reasons for disposals and suggests ways to minimize product and ingredient losses. * Coordinates daily tasting of product manufactured during the shift. * Works closely with various groups to develop and implement procedures as necessary. * Works closely with various groups to prepare and maintain specifications. * Works with R&D to set acceptable specification ranges for new products. Notifies R&D and/or Technical Service when products or processes are not meeting expectations. Makes revisions based on approved changes by R&D and/or Technical Service. * Prepares reports which summarize data obtained from QA evaluations and make conclusions that will assist in improving product quality. * Collect samples for microbiological testing and submission of samples for testing. * Obtains potential standards and coordinates tasting to confirm sample is suitable as a standard. * Organizes and files all paperwork completed during the shift. * Completes activities with appropriate urgency. * Provides training, guidance, motivation, corrective action and performance reviews to QA Technicians. Communicates expectations, objectives and provides feedback on a regular basis. * Monitors Good Manufacturing Practices of all individuals in the plant and warehouse, as well as completing inspections at suppliers manufacturing facilities and outside warehouses. Advises infractions to supervisor, supplier or service provider as appropriate. * Performs special projects as required. **Supervisory Responsibilitites** This position will supervise 1-4 QA Technicians. There are no subordinate supervisors reporting to this position.
Ideal Candidate
**Required:** * Detail oriented * Works well with others * Reliable/Dependable * Intermediate computer skills * One year QA experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment * One year supervisory experience **Preferred:** Bilingual Spanish/English **Education and/or Experience** Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. **Language Skills** * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. * Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. * Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
