Summary
The QA/QC Manager will lead and implement QA & QC policies, procedures and systems for the Totowa plant and New Jersey based Distribution Centers. This individual will also oversee, monitor, and coordinate team activities, give importance to team's achievement of established goals. Ensures team's goals are aligned with and representative of the overall company's directive ensuring safe, legal, and quality food product. This position will provide leadership to a QC Team Leader, QA Team Leader, a Sanitation Supervisor and QA/QC personnel in distribution centers. Engaged in the storage and conversion of a variety of flour based raw materials into dry blended finished products containing varying degrees of secondary ingredients for over 1000 skews. A key objective of this position will be to coordinate with site leadership in moving to a work team environment. Of critical importance is a complete understanding that manufacturing is responsible for consistently delivering within the following areas: cost & productivity, consumer perceived quality & regulatory compliance, customer service, and people development.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the quality process including critical process characteristics, standards, audits and complaint resolutions. * Insures ongoing compliance to, but not limited to HACCP, GMP’s, AIB, BRC and ISO 9000. * Ensures that proper customer contacts are made and maintained whenever existing or new products require customer input as it relates to product quality specifications. * Provides support services to customers for gauging, measuring techniques and tolerance specifications when required. * Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over the quality of raw materials, facilities, and products. * Directs quality program planning and coordination to ensure product and quality systems’ meet customer specifications * Provides ongoing and annual training to the quality team and operations team in quality techniques and tools to ensure product requirements are consistently met. * Ensures a safe working environment for all quality employees. * Communicates facility quality performance through verbal, documented and meeting formats to other members of management and / or operations and warehouse staff, for over 200 employees * Provides quality oversight of the sanitation program to assure that Totowa sanitation systems are effective in meeting guidelines established by FDA, AIB and BRC. * Responsible for coordinating quality audits of the Totowa plant by customers or regulatory agencies such as FDA, BRC, ISO or AIB. * Develops the QC operating budget plan for each year and monitors actual performance of the department against the plan. * Analyzes pertinent production information as it relates to quality specification adherence and initiates corrective action plans as needed to ensure that business quality goals are met. * Directs all activities related to customer complaints and initiating corrective actions via the CEI system within allowed timelines. * Coordinates and conducts semiannual Quality Management Review meetings for the Totowa operations teams and related to corrective actions resulting from the review. * Develops and verifies internal lab processes and testing methodology. * Provides leadership to plant safety programs and teams. * Leads commercialization and special projects from a Quality perspective to update regulatory documentation, risk analysis and hazard elimination or mitigation. * Set a clear and consistent course for others. * Leads specific root cause analysis. * Makes timely and effective decisions * Other duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate
* **Minimum Qualifications:** 5-10 years of experience in quality and/or regulatory leadership capacity in a food manufacturing setting. * **Education:** Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in chemistry, food science, or other highly relevant technical discipline from a four-year college or university. Master’s degree (MA/MS) preferred. * **Experience:** Minimum of 10-15 years experience in a quality capacity. Experience in food programs, including but not limited to HACCP, GMP’s, SPC, as well as exposure to a TPM environment. **Working Environment & Physical Effort:** Work involves daily exposure to dust. Physical risks such as working around moving equipment. Positions requires the ability to stand, sit, walk around the plant, lift and carry packages up to 50 pounds, reach, kneel, crawl and twist. Ability to see, hear and communicate as well as the ability to operate machinery. PPE is a requirement.
