We have local chapters across the nation, providing services within each community. We provide caregivers and families with comprehensive online resources and information through our Alzheimer's and Dementia Caregiver Center, which features sections on early-stage, middle-stage and late-stage caregiving.
Summary
The Special Events Coordinator is primarily responsible for assisting the Event Manager in the planning, execution, and evaluation of Chapter special events, including the Walk to End Alzheimer's and the Reason to Hope Breakfasts, and facilitation of approved third-party events benefitting the Chapter and the Association.
Responsibilities
* Planning, execution, and evaluation of all Chapter special events including the Walk to End Alzheimer's and the Reason to Hope events * Work with Event Manager and Director of Development to strategically develop, manage, and grow Chapter fundraising events, and to determine goals and budgets for events * Work with Event Manager and Marketing and Communications Manager to promote events * Serve as primary staff liaison to event planning committees * Recruit, train and manage event volunteers; effectively communicate responsibilities and expectations to volunteers (and staff) to ensure that they are effectively utilized * Achieve growth in events by following established models, motivating staff and volunteers, and creating strategies to increase participation and revenues * Solicit sponsorships and in-kind donations for events * Meet or exceed budget projections for events * Negotiate contracts with outside vendors; organize logistics and décor; design and produce event collateral * Responsible for facilitation of approved fundraising and third-party events benefitting the Chapter and the Association * Ensure compliance with established Association policies, guidelines, and standards for fundraising and third-party events * Ensure that all terms of third-party agreements are met by both the third party and the Chapter * Serve as primary staff liaison to contacts for approved third-party events * Engage Chapter staff and volunteers as appropriate to support third-party events * Responsible for community outreach * Informally advocate for those we serve and the services offered by the Chapter * Make presentations and provide information to community partners on the programs and services we provide * Support and participate in formal advocacy and public policy activities as requested * Represent the Chapter at public events, conferences, and media events as needed
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related discipline. * 3+ years experience in a non-profit organization, planning and coordinating fundraising events * Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to present with poise, confidence, and professionalism to diverse constituencies * Excellent interpersonal, relationship- and team-building skills * Ability to train, guide, and motivate volunteers to achieve objectives * Must be business-minded, evidence-based, and mission-driven * Proficient in Microsoft Office and donor database management software * Ability to manage projects independently and report outcomes effectively * Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel extensively as needed (most travel is same day, intra state) * Able to work under stress and be flexible where there are high expectations for meeting tight deadlines and for producing work that is accurate * Displays a high level of integrity, diplomacy, and initiative * Must have interest in and/or willingness to develop working knowledge about Alzheimer's disease and its impact on diagnosed individuals, families, and caregivers * Must possess reliable vehicle, valid WA driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.
