About Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation
APFC is a state-owned corporation, based in Juneau, that manages the assets of the Alaska Permanent Fund and other funds designated by law, such as the Alaska Mental Health Trust Fund.
Summary
This position plays a key role in Real Estate portfolio management, reporting and research for this asset class. This position reports to the Director of Real Estate Investments and overseas direct Real Estate relationships with all separate account managers The position coordinates all activities and transactions with the assistance of in house staff.
Responsibilities
**Overview** * Participates in ongoing discussions with Director to identify new strategies. * Works with team in implementation of approved (CIO and Board) RE investment strategy. * Contributes to annual tactical planning process. * Assists Director in identifying sales candidates and contributes in positioning of overall portfolio. * Analyzes the underwriting of potential acquisitions. * Evaluates portfolio on a quarterly basis. Works on portfolio reporting in terms of performance analysis, and risk constraints. Recommends changes. * Assists Director in the management of large JV-partnered assets and REOC investment. * Joins Director in attending all partnership meetings, participates in entity level strategic discussions. * Evaluates each direct investment annually by working with external manager to perform property ranking and hold/sell analyses. * Monitors all ongoing property level issues with the help of dedicated real estate analysts. **Reporting** * Develops new processes and reporting structure to streamline existing information sources. * Evaluates existing systems and recommends necessary changes. * Coordinates implementation of new updates with IT department, or outside contractors, if needed. **Research** * Maintains current industry knowledge; including capital markets activity and benchmark related news. * Compiles, analyzes, and interprets market research.
Ideal Candidate
**Education:** * A Bachelor’s an MBA, CFA and/or JD strongly preferre **Experience:** * 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in multiple asset classes combined with a working knowledge of portfolio management **Knowledge Skills and Abilities:** * An broad range of domestic and international real estate markets * Strong proficiency in math, statistics, software, Excel, models, and databases * Documented ability to generate financial cash flow and valuation models * Expertise in critical thinking, technical writing, and making effective presentations.
