Summary
Experienced Financial Aid Counselor or Student Support Advisor who has worked with a selective, regionally accredited university to assist staff and students throughout the financial aid and matriculation process.
Responsibilities
* Works with students throughout federal financial aid process, programs, eligibility and repayment criteria for undergraduate and graduate students * Support training and professional development for new and experienced admission counselors and student support advisors on admissions and financial aid processes based on school and program requirements * Provide regular staff updates on federal and institutional aid policies and procedures * Support applicants and students thru the conversion, yield, matriculation and enrollment process by counseling and informing prospective students about financial aid application procedures, available federal aid programs, repayment and loan forgiveness options, and program costs * Research scholarship and external funding resources to support students in all programs
Ideal Candidate
**Things That Should Be in Your Background:** * Bachelor’s degree in business, education or related area strongly preferred * 3-5 years financial aid or advising experience within a selective, regionally accredited university * Knowledge of federal, and/or institutional rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures for awarding of financial aid. * Telephone appointment setting and keeping with proven ability to collect information a plus * Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM to track student contact. * Ability to effectively communicate with prospective and current students, school partners, admission counselors and student support staff. **Other Attributes That Will Help You in This Role:** * Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport with internal and external customer base * Ability to focus on specific quantifiable goals and deliver goals on a consistent basis * Ability to prioritize and multi-task responsibilities at all times * Strong follow-up skills * Ability to work with a diverse team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment * Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change
