Summary
14 West, an Agora Company, has an opportunity for a Senior Database Administrator to join our enterprise Systems Operations team within the Global Technology group, working out of our Mt. Vernon campus in Baltimore, MD. In this role you will work as part of a team that provides operational support for systems and services in our evolving database infrastructure. The Senior Database Administrator will interact internally with the IT team and directly with our customers to ensure continuity and customer satisfaction of services. In addition to direct operational responsibilities, you will actively participate in developing the operational models, processes, procedures, and organizational structures required to maintain and mature the systems.
Responsibilities
* Ongoing maintenance and administration of assigned systems * Adherence to policies, processes, and procedures within the designated areas of responsibility * Assist with execution of projects related to areas of responsibility * Developing, configuring and maintaining databases and related systems to include writing well-formed, efficient SQL queries, views, jobs, and stored procedures to collect, process and present relevant data * Assist with recovery of lost or corrupt data * Assist in the administration of the SQL Change Management process * Ensure the integrity and security of data from unauthorized individuals * Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems * Assist in future planning and architecture of database environments * Develop and maintain proper documentation for procedures\processes\designs\builds in regards to the database infrastructure **Performance Objectives:** * In the first 3o days you should have an understanding of our systems and stakeholders * By 90 days you should proactively be building relationships with the key stakeholders * Within 180 days you should be comfortable with our environment and own the process as well as accountability for providing proactive solutions. * At your 1 year mark you should have happy customers and be meeting and exceeding customer expectations and have built strong relationships with each of them.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree or comparable years’ experience in field * 5-7 year(s) experience performing Microsoft SQL Server Administration * Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and greater * Good working knowledge of database security and authentication using Active Directory * Good working knowledge of Always-On Availability Groups, Windows Failover Clustering, Database Mirroring, Log Shipping, etc. * General familiarity with storage and server architecture, including Windows Server 2012 or greater * Knowledge of SSIS is a plus * Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills * Flexible to work in an on-call rotation * Proactive approach to tasks and projects
