Summary
Vacasa is looking for a talented individual to join our IT team as a database administrator to support and maintain our database infrastructure. Our success in the market directly translates into the volumes of analytics we need to support. If you like a challenge, this is the one for you.
Responsibilities
* Develop or extend existing frameworks to automate as much as possible the administration of large numbers of MySQL servers * Design and implement large scale data management and business analytics solutions at a detailed level by applying industry knowledge, best practices, and architectural guidance to ensure system functionality and cost efficiencies * Design and implement strategies for operational support including monitoring, performance analysis, load testing and debugging of existing systems * Troubleshoot issues in development and operational environments * Participate in an on-call rotation **Role Expectations:** * Must be comfortable designing and enforcing specific database design specifications * Must help software engineers write performant queries or debug existing queries * Must be able to identify and update non-performance queries using monitoring tools and logs * Must be able to work with other teams but also need to be capable of identifying tasks and executing on them on your own * Must be able to keep up with a fast paced environment and also be able to adjust your workflow to fit the tasks at hand
Ideal Candidate
* 3+ years of MySQL/Maria DB Database Administration experience * Capable of installing and configuring a MySQL instance * Capable of designing/maintaining granular user permissions * Must be familiar with configuration values in MySQL and tuning them to fit application needs * Must be familiar with configuring/maintaining replication * Experience maintaining databases for high-traffic international web applications * Extensive experience with database security practices * Familiar with AWS RDS and related tools **Additional Skills/Experience Desired:** * Familiarity with MySQL performance monitoring tools (MonYog, VividCortex, etc) * Familiarity with replication specific performance tuning * Able to configure data normalization and transformation between database instances (ETL) * Experience configuring and maintaining a data warehouse * Experience with other databases (other relational databases, NoSQL solutions, ElasticSearch, etc)
