Summary
The Williams College Development Office seeks a creative, energetic, focused, and collaborative professional to implement the communications strategy for our comprehensive fundraising initiatives. The successful candidate will be an excellent writer and versatile communications expert who can work with text, imagery, and video across web, email, print, and social media platforms. S/he will create communications that support major gift and annual fund gift solicitations, raise the sights of prospective donors, complement core volunteer and staff functions, heighten awareness about Williams-at-large and the global impact of its graduates, and help recruit and train volunteers to become a motivated and effective solicitation force. Reporting to the Director of Development while sustaining a closely collaborative relationship with the Office of Communications, this position is designed to meet sharply increasing demand for communications as the college seeks unprecedented philanthropic support to sustain its educational mission.
Responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with five years or more of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience - Broad experience in communications, journalism, marketing, and/or public relations - Experience in higher education, particularly undergraduate liberal arts colleges, is a plus - Exceptional writing and editing skills, deep experience in developing web-based content (text, images, video), proficiency in major social-media platforms and awareness of emerging platforms - Exceptional interpersonal skills, in order to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, administrators, trustees, alumni, parents, and freelancers - Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and perform well on deadline as well as on long-term projects
