Responsibilities
- Architecture, logical and physical design, automation, documentation, installs, shell scripting, MySQL, Hadoop, PL/SQL programming, backup & recovery, monitoring, and database and query tuning. - Develop and maintain SSIS packages and SSRS reports to meet business needs. - Perform logical and physical data modeling. - Develop reliable and efficient database code to support enterprise reporting and applications. - Maintain and enhance the existing database solutions. - Create and maintain documents for all projects. - Monitor and optimize system performance using index tuning, disk optimization, partitioning and other methods. - Participate in the creation and enforcement of database development standards and processes, including: naming, coding, database security, data access, and documentation
Ideal Candidate
- Implement database changes as part of software releases. - Monitor and analyze databases to achieve optimum performance and high availability. - Perform activities related to day-to-day administration and maintenance of database systems. - Ability to create complex SSIS packages. - Experience developing high volume ETL processes involving flat files (CSV, XML etc). - Ability to architect data systems from concept to completion - Microsoft SharePoint administration and SSRS integration. - Experience with data warehousing. - Exceptional data-access coding skills: T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and views. - Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving performance issues. - Knowledge of database design, implementation, transaction processing, referential integrity, performance tuning and monitoring with an emphasis in MS SQL. - Experience with developing and managing high availability solutions: replication, clustering, mirroring, log shipping. - Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment. - Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to translate information and develop insights. - Exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to lead working groups, negotiate and create consensus. - Ability to work as a member of a team and independently - Capable of working easily with business and product users to explain database concepts in simple terms. - Identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems to serve as a subject matter expert of information and advice - BA/BS Degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field. - 5+ years of experience with MYSQL and MSSQL Server, SSIS and SSRS, data/process analysis and modeling, logical and physical database - Perform work in a team environment - Direct and act as a resource for less experienced administrators and relay necessary information. - Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal customers and department staff - Work closely with internal staff to define and resolve information flow and content issues, helping to transform business requirements into environment specific databases.
