Summary
SunPower seeks an experienced Sales Engineer to support our Commercial (C&I) Business in the US. This individual will work closely with several SunPower Sales Channels including our Enterprise, Public Sector, and Commercial Value Added Reseller (CVAR) channel network. The successfull candidate will independently designe customer solutions including Solar, Energy Storage, and Software solutions for maximum customer benefit. They will identify, assess, architect, and implement best practices for delivering total energy solutions to SunPower’s C&I Customers.
Responsibilities
* Engages with senior level and management representatives internal and external to the company. Work with SunPower sales channel leaders to develop actionable and viable customer proposals * Meet with customers, potential partners, and strategic service providers to discover new opportunities for growth. * Lead Engineering Support for Solar + Storage Sales * Participate in customer meetings * Shape solution design (with internal design resources) * Help close deals * Design and Integrate key technical gates and milestones into standard sales processes. * Architect solutions to address novel interconnection and incentive regimes * Representing energy storage platform to project financiers, in partnership with Project Finance Team. * Directing vendor testing of various control and operational schemes to deliver customer savings. * Engage with market participants, industry groups, and regulators to understand subject matter state-of-the-art and current industry thinking and trends. * Integrate partner and supplier products and offers where appropriate to meet business goals.
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum requirements** * B.S. degree and 5+ years related experience OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience * Relevant experience within distributed energy generation, energy storage, energy management, solar sales, energy regulatory, or similar industries * Experience/ability to independently, directly engage clients and support deal closing is required * Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required * Experience managing teams, both directly and through matrix organizations * Ability to incorporates business strategy into key deliverables * Must be willing to travel domestically no more than 30% **Preferred requirements** * Postgraduate coursework desirable (MBA or Masters/PhD) * Ability to work with broad engineering teams (ME, EE, SE) to deliver project solutions * Preference will be given to candidates with energy storage experience and customer facing roles **Other Pertinent Information** * This position reports to the Director of Strategy and Business Development * Job is located in SunPower’s Richmond, CA office. * Travel to customers within the US, as well as SunPower US offices will be required but will not typically be expected to exceed 30 percent.
