Summary
The Business Development Manager position within the NRG Curtailment Solutions team will be responsible for identifying and originating business opportunities for NRG throughout the Northeast (PJM) Market to achieve annual revenue and margin expectations. Performance will be measured on effectiveness in selling demand response and energy management contracts to meet client’s energy requirements. This role will require establishing new customer relationships, and maintaining existing business relationships. In addition, the Business Development Manager will be accountable for understanding the drivers and monitoring the ever changing energy markets.
Responsibilities
- Profitably sell demand response and energy management services to clients to increase NRG’s success in the commercial and industrial space - Effectively communicate with management the status of sales opportunities and client activity levels - Optimize sales activities in the market. Including generating your own leads, and working with Inside Sales and Channel Partners. Ensure there is no conflict between the various channels to market - Build relationships with clients to understand their business model and how energy impacts their success - Develop and sell custom energy solutions that solve client problems in coordination with internal and 3rd party product development - Maintain assigned levels of sales activity for new and existing clients to produce consistent results above sales objectives - Actively seek out and recommend new products and services that increase profitability of existing and new customers - Self-Motivation to further the technical knowledge of the new energy market fundamentals which impact commodity market prices, and energy management technology. - Support the internal service delivery system by working cooperatively and effectively with support group members - Maintain high awareness of the competitive environment, demand response program developments, electricity marketing trends, and current pricing strategies and utility tariffs - Identify and implement efforts to significantly improve system and processes required to support energy intensive and highly structured transactions - Represent company in a professional and ethical manner - Ability to meet defined sales/financial goals and objectives - Ability to persuasively explain multiple products to a diverse group of business customers - Dedicated to meeting the expectations of customers. Ability to get first-hand customer information and use it for improvements in products and services
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications:** - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in business, marketing or related discipline, strongly preferred. Advanced degree in a related discipline could substitute for a portion of the experience requirement - Five plus years of professional experience in direct / outside sales - Proven track record of self-motivation and drive to exceed sales expectations - Experience in energy and/or energy management industry - Experience in targeting large commercial and industrial customers in deregulated markets preferred **Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** - Commercial sales background dealing with large industrials and complex product structures. - Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) (Siebel) (SalesForce). - Effective in a variety of formal presentation settings; one on one, small and large groups; effective both inside and outside the organization; can change tactics midstream accordingly. - Detailed understanding of business development processes or has sufficient technical background and learning aptitude to be able to quickly master the basic components of the processes. - Knowledge of deregulated electric market. - Able to communicate effectively in oral and written form to all levels of an organization. - Demonstrated ability to learn new industry, company, product or technical knowledge and effectively convey that knowledge to customers. - Must be able to work in an independent environment without daily supervision. - Must be a proven self-starter. - Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Compensation and Working Conditions

Working Conditions

Candidate must live within the PJM footprint or be willing to relocate into the PJM footprint. This position does not come with paid relocation expenses.
