Summary
The MEDIA DIRECTOR is responsible for developing the media strategies and media plans for Clients. This includes the research, selection, negotiation, and ordering of space and time. The Media Director maintains contact with media advertising representatives, and takes all calls from media representatives, gathering any information required. The Media Director plays a vital role in research and marketing. The Media Director conducts media, industry, or company research to allow the agency to develop an accurate strategic advertising and marketing plan. The Media Director plans and places all Clients’ projects, establishes appropriate media and budgets for Clients and builds good working relationships with media reps.
Responsibilities
* Communicate with media reps gathering information and data for media development. * Develop media plans based on client or prospect strategic objectives and information/direction from Account Services. * Prepare media schedules and keeps schedules current. Advises Account Services team of changes in requirements and costs. * Establish deadlines for required materials and reports space closing and material deadlines to Account Services and Project Manager. * Coordinate with Account Service and Project Manager to ensure material deadlines are met. * Prepare media cost estimates and revises them as needed. * Negotiate media buys. * Place media space and issues traffic orders. * Review tearsheets for correct execution. * Perform data analysis, media post analysis, and provides reports to agency and clients. * Build relationships with a wide variety of media channels. * Represent the Media Department in client or prospect presentations. * Represent the agency at media events and functions. * Support new business research and development. * Supervise Media Department staff. * Maintain agency resources (e.g. software, publications, etc.). * Proactively investigate potential resources and media development tools for agency capabilities. * Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of new media vehicles and updated media channels. This includes exploring creative vehicles relevant to clients’ target audiences. * Must carry out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision. Make decisions and establishes work priorities to meet deadlines and accomplish tasks. * Accounts for all time, on a daily basis, related to client projects. * Contributes to any area of the agency needing assistance for overall successful functionality, upholds the agency mission, and acts as agency ‘goodwill ambassador’ to positively represent & promote the agency at all times.
Ideal Candidate
* 4-6 years of relevant work experience in the media communications industry * 2-3 years experience managing a team of employees and working across multiple teams * Ability to identify and negotiate partnerships across traditional and digital channels * Proven ability to build, scale and maintain a media practice focused on business results
