Summary
This position is a part of the Health Information Management Department and is responsible for data integrity and the correction of errors discovered within a patient's health record. This candidate must be familiar with Electronic Health Records, web-based transcription systems, and electronic document/image systems in order to perform the core tasks of this position; merging of duplicate patient records, investigation of patient overlays/patient demographic changes, and the completion of document corrections.
Responsibilities
A Data Integrity Specialist is responsible for maintaining and monitory the reliability of the data contained in a patient's health record. This is accomplished by performing a wide variety of duties, including merging of duplicate patient records, validating patient demographic changes, examining patient overlays, and document corrections. A Data Integrity Specialist has a strong working knowledge of the electronic health record and an aptitude for other computer-based programs utilized to perform this job. Proper performance of a Data Integrity Specialist results in maintaining an appropriate timeline to correct errors in information and validating that all identifiers are accurate within a patient's health record. This will prevent an improper disclosure of patient information and any other negative downstream effects patient identification errors may cause within the electronic health record. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining positive working relationships with other departments, physicians, and outside agencies. The Data Integrity Specialist will collaborate with these entities in order to validate the reliability of the data they are analyzing.

It is intended to be an accurate reflection of the general nature and level of the position. **Minimum Qualifications:** **Education:** * Must have working-level knowledge of the English language (including; reading, writing, and speaking English). Associate Degree in Health Information Management or other related health care field preferred. **Experience:** * Requires 4-5 years of experience in a Health Information Management Department or equivalent in a health care setting. Also must possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to interact with and troubleshoot physician questions related to electronic medical record completion. Experience with Windows Operating System, EPIC, OnBase, Microsoft Applications preferred. Previous electronic medical record experience required. **License(s):** * None. **Certification(s):** * Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred. **Computer / Typing:** * Must possess advanced knowledge of technology and highly developed computer skills.
