Summary
The candidate will be involved in all phases of software development life cycle (SDLC): requirements gathering, analysis and design, development, testing, implementation, and production support. In addition to performing software development, the developer will be doing documentation, and may be interfacing with other development efforts, and implementations.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain web based applications and websites used as eLearning tools in the Public Health and Healthcare industries. * Apply knowledge of computer science principles, information management principles, hardware and software systems' structures and operation, and computer programming languages and techniques to solve problems. * Develop and implement new modules, applications, and systems in Visual Basic Studio in a Windows environment according to specifications provided by the customer stakeholders. * Support existing or legacy applications in .Net ASP; and perform assessments for migrating legacy applications to newer technology. * Responsible for programming code, testing, documenting, and correcting code defects and software related problems. * Collaborate with customer subject matter experts and other staff to develop and update content on websites and within web based applications. * Develop user interface prototypes and specifications to create customized web products that are easy-to-understand, user-friendly, accessible, and tailored to meet the needs of diverse audiences such as the general public, health professionals, and news media. * Consistently ensure that standardized template, format, brand, and identity standards are met and approval processes are followed. * Ensure that websites, applications, and other electronic communication products comply with Section 508 requirements (http://section508.gov/) and are easy, efficient, and effective to use for specific audiences. * Provide a high standard of quality assurance when completing HTML, CSS, ASP, .Net, and other technical work required. * Actively participate in meetings required for current projects, team or work unit activities, and mandatory training. * Mentor junior resources * Provide oral reports and print materials to colleagues and supervisors when required. * Provide recommendations that reflect clear knowledge and application of current web app and website design and development subject matter. * Provide guidance to internal and external customers and partners on planning and conducting website and application projects and activities. * Manage multiple projects and competing priorities. * Proactively communicate plans and progress to coworkers, customers, and management.
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Qualifications:** * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or related field with a minimum of 9 years of experience. * 10 years demonstrated proficiency in website design, development, and maintenance. * 5 years of Application and Website Programming- ASP.net, HTML5, JQuery, Javascript, CSS/CSS3, VB Script, Web 2.0 Standards. * Office Production- Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)* Clear understanding of website design and development best practices * Knowledgeable of Section 508 requirements, website accessibility, and closed captioning. * Familiarity with social media channels, website analytics, metrics, and information architecture. * Ability to respond effectively to changing events and competing priorities. * Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. * Previous team environment using Agile **Preferred Qualifications:** * Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience. * Prior CDC, public health, or healthcare experience (to understand terminology).
