• Define business and technical requirements for future engineering efforts
• Architect solutions, data models and technical approaches to future engineering efforts
• Explore new technologies, create prototypes and determine applicability to the company’s product strategy
• Ability to understand software at a code level when required
• Be familiar with new technologies, processes and techniques and be prepared to guide their introduction into the engineering team.
• Be a leader in defining the architectural direction of the company's products.
• Become a subject matter expert on RBM’s application software

• Experience architecting and designing software solutions
• Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise and accurate technical documents describing technical architecture, design and other concepts
• Demonstrated ability to verbally explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely
• 5+ years experience developing enterprise scale web applications using open source technologies
• Broad knowledge of software engineering, computer science and technology
• Experience with Ruby on Rails or ability to learn it quickly
• Demonstrated understanding of standard web technologies such as html5, css3, JavaScript, REST and json
• Demonstrated experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases and data modeling
• Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or related discipline preferred
• Clear understanding of computer science and software engineering concepts and practices
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with others in a professional manner
• Ability to work in fast paced, dynamic environment
• A good sense of humor and a passion for technology
