Summary
The Design Director will be responsible for all classifications within a brand, or brands, or one classification within multiple brands, will oversee the entire design team, and will serve as the liaison between the design team and senior management. Thorough knowledge of fabric construction, finishes, and garment construction for all classifications will be essential to achieving success within this role.
Responsibilities
* Steer direction for the entire brand/entire classification with multiple brands. * Consistently shop competitive/inspirational stores independently and with the design team. * Orchestrate design team’s seasonal concept boards and color direction to ensure a cohesive vision is presented to President. * Create new initiatives for the brand with the design team each season in coordination with merchandising team. * Analyze sales’ history with merchandising/sales team to develop strategies aligned with business goals. * Work with design team during line development to ensure each grouping is merchandised effectively based on pattern selection, color usage, trims, and model details. * Lead in the presentation of the line during development meetings. * Accountable for the design team meeting all calendar milestones during development process, i.e., initial fabric quality development, CAD execution, and pattern and garment development. * Responsible for overall fit of all classifications in conjunction with brand appropriate fit trends. * Work with design team and global sourcing teams to ensure fabrications and garment details meet appropriate target prices. * Ultimately responsible for final fabric, garment, and trim approvals. * Create showroom experience when sales samples arrive establishing where groupings will be housed and displayed; determine if any changes or corrections need to be made and have design team provide appropriate representation for sales. * Present line to sales team to ensure proper knowledge of features and benefits. * Work with head of sales if additional items or colorways are necessary. * Fiscally responsible to maintain yearly budget.( travel, inspiration samples, etc)
Ideal Candidate
**Experience:** Minimum 10 years’ experience in design position. Experience managing team/s. **Education**: Bachelor’s Degree **Skills:** * Microsoft Office Suite * Strong proficiency of Kaledo textile software and Illustrator/Photoshop, Brouzewear 3-D * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Full technical knowledge of fabric and garment construction for multiple classifications. * Excellent color & visual sensibility. * Strong prioritization and organization skills * Strong product and taste level * Travel as necessary
