Summary
The Strategic Business Development department is tasked with finding and implementing new business, product, and service opportunities that contribute to new revenue generation and the company’s growth. The Senior Technical Project Manager will manage projects from initial conception and planning through to execution and operational phases. These projects will vary in scope and subject matter, ranging from small apps through to large scale products and services. The ideal candidate has experience in a wide variety of business markets but relevant to the PlayStation platform, including online/Internet, consumer facing electronic products and software applications, and/or digital media entertainment. The applicant must have very strong core project skills and experience, and familiarity with both agile and waterfall methodologies.
Responsibilities
* Work with cross-functional and cross-company teams to define, launch, and drive strategic business initiatives through entire project lifecycle * Organize workflow, assign duties, projects activities and tasks as required by the SBD Project schedule * Act as a key organizer and contact point for project assignments as determined by the SBD business and planning teams, and by SCEA and SCEI business priorities * Structure and execute initiatives by developing final project proposals and recommendations, and creating and project plans * Revise and adjust project plans as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. * Communicate project objectives, status, expectations to project team and management * Create, manage, and track project schedules, including tracking dependencies, deadlines, and other information that may impact delivery or quality of project * Minimize, manage, and avoid risks to milestones, schedules and objectives of project * Work closely with business (Business Development, Marketing, Legal, Third Party Relations, etc.) and engineering (internal and/or external) teams to define, gather and prioritize requirements, and deliver project successfully * Prepare presentations, project documentation and reports. * Motivates cross-functional and cross-organizational project team to work together in the most efficient and effective manner * Identify areas for improvement in internal processes within the department and cross-organizationally along with possible solutions
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree and PMP Certification or equivalent certification * 5+ years experience * Demonstrated experience in managing digital / online or gaming projects such as managing the launch of a new business, service, or product, or complex operational initiatives and processes, such as managing operations for an online site or service. * Demonstrated experience of managing projects which are synched to product and software development lifecycles * Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must be able to communicate with a wide variety of audiences ranging in skill set (highly technical to non-technical) and experience (individual contributors to executive management), cross-organizationally and with external partners. Must be able to create and deliver informative, well-organized and engaging presentations as well project plans, reports, and other project documents. * Excellent people skills required. Must be able to build, lead and motivate a team in a matrixed project environment. Must be comfortable with mitigating team conflict and resolving communication or other problems within the project team. * Excellent problem solving and analysis skills combined with impeccable business judgment * Must be resourceful and seek solutions through information gathering, stakeholder discussions, and/or judgment. * Experience in the video game industry is not required, but interest in gaming, digital entertainment, consumer electronics, and technology is a plus * Possesses solid understanding in the areas of Internet, client/server technology, consumer electronics, and digital media. * Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application for console gaming and digital entertainment
