Summary
This role reports into the Pfizer Consolidation Services group. Consolidation Services is part of the Controller’s organization within Pfizer and plays a vital role in the collection, consolidation and reporting of financial information for the company. The team works with all affiliate locations worldwide, as well as market, regional and HQ Business Finance as it relates to data collection (Sales, Trial Balance, Markup and Supplemental/Disclosure data), data submission requirements, systems/process training and financial reporting & analysis (both internal and external). The Staff Accountant position within the Consolidation Services group is responsible for participation in a wide variety of areas impacting the monthly financial close including Flash Package preparation and analysis, Balance Sheet Analysis and preparation of various footnote tables. In addition, the individual in this role will interact with affiliates worldwide as well as business finance on reporting requirements, key processes and system/reporting capabilities.
Responsibilities
* Assists in analyzing all parts of the Monthly Flash Package reports (P&L; reporting) to senior management in preparation for the quarterly Earnings Review Meeting with the controller. * Responsible for preparing various aspects of the Monthly Flash Package to senior management. * Responsible for analysis of certain balance sheet accounts to ensure integrity of consolidated financials and will assist in preparing footnote tables for inclusion in external filings which includes collaboration with the External Reporting group in Controllers. * Assists on special projects requiring analytical skills and knowledge of systems/processes related to business acquisitions and divestitures, financial systems implementations or changes in accounting policy. * Interacts with and addresses questions from all business finance partners regarding reporting issues, analysis of results, and need for adjusting entries. Examines reports and/or other financial information from the field and prepares and process adjusting journal entries as necessary. * Ensures that key internal controls are met and prepares monthly documentation in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) audit requirements. Works with internal and external auditors as necessary to ensure the completion of quarterly/annual audits. * Identifies inefficiencies in accounting and reporting processes and proposes solutions in order to sustain continuous improvement ideals and move towards 'best in class' processes. * Plays a key role in the reporting of Consolidation Metrics geared towards enforcing accountability and identifying areas for process improvement or greater focus/controls * Preparation/analysis of the quarterly Passed Entry and Out of Period listings as well as SAB99 memo follow up and communication with key parties as needed. Responsible for periodic analysis around the consolidations ledger.
Ideal Candidate
* BS in Accounting * Big 4 Auditing Experience highly preferred * CPA preferred with a minimum of 2 years accounting or financial reporting background * Experience working in a large, multinational company is also a positive * Experience with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Hyperion Essbase or other financial reporting/consolidation software is a plus. Fluency in Microsoft Office applications is required. * Has a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting and can participate in a broad * spectrum of accounting/financial reporting responsibilities. * Change agility - can easily move from one task to another, juggle multiple tasks at one time and effectively deal with change. * Self-starter who brings energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude to every responsibility and project. * Team player who has the ability to establish positive and productive working relationships with others in * the group. * Demonstrates a desire to learn, a passion for new ideas and a focus on continuous improvement * Strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to conduct meetings and present ideas to groups * of colleagues. * Demonstrates business acumen and ability to "connect" financial results to business activity in order to "stress test" accuracy/integrity of results.
