Infrastructure Development Operations Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure Technologies

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties are generally representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive:

• Provide technical thought leadership, to design, deliver, document, and communicate a holistic Infrastructure DevOps strategy to the various IT teams.
• Lead Infrastructure DevOps architectural designs & discussions with the various IT team members.
• Define, apply, and drive the use cases for Infrastructure DevOps within the Nuveen organization.
• Partner across various IT and business teams to provide insight and technology recommendations that result in Infrastructure DevOps solutions to solve critical business problems.
• Own and drive improvements to our build and release scripts, tools, and operational processes
• Help define best practice for source control, continuous integration, automated testing and release management
• Develop Infrastructure DevOps solutions that meet business requirements
• Collaborate with peers on work estimation/planning and implementation of new versions/features of tools
• Bring new automation technologies to improve velocity and quality of our engineering efforts
• Automate server, database, and business application deployments to the various cloud offerings
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills

Education and/or Experience:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or similar technical degree. Masters is preferred.
• Industry certifications: Strong analytical & problem solving skills required along with a strong process background.
• Experience with business service management software; HP BSM preferred
• 3+ years of in-depth automation experience using configuration management tools, such as Puppet, Chef, and PowerShell
• Proficient in PowerShell, Ruby, Java or Python
• Understand operating system, storage, and network technologies & concepts
• Experience working with cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform
• Extensive experience with systems, network, security, and IT operations
• Experience with developing, executing, and documenting test plans
• Strong background and experience with Windows and Linux platforms
• Experience with IT Monitoring Tools; HP BSM preferred
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work toward task completion
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to build consensus and to present complex presentations to large audiences. Ability to explain complex technical detail and alternatives to non-technical associates.
• Able to work on complex, major or highly visible tasks in support of multiple projects that require multiple areas of expertise
• Provides subject matter expertise and technical direction for Infrastructure DevOps initiatives
• Able to analyze existing processes to understand their strengths and weaknesses to uncover opportunities for improvements
• Lead and design, develop, and implement reusable components that reduces implementation time
• Performs script maintenance and updates to changes in requirements or implementations
• Assists in defining Infrastructure DevOps and quality guidelines and standards
