Summary
The Linux Administrator will be responsible for maintaining complex systems build on Linux and Windows servers. This position is a key member of the DevOps team and will troubleshoot and resolve issues on production servers, monitor and improve server performance, and virtualize Linux environments.
Responsibilities
* System administration for RedHat, Centos and other Linux OS distributions * Virtualization of current Linux environments * Develop and revise system procedures, test procedures and quality standards * Configuration, administration and maintenance of RedHat Satellite * Implement improvements and document standard procedures, architecture, design and deployments * Create and maintain diagrams of Linux system architecture * Install and configure software deployed to Linux systems such as Apache * Support the Linux environment as a development and production platform for a Hadoop distribution
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications:** * 3+ years of experience in Linux systems administration (Ubuntu, CentOS or RedHat preferred), including operating system and package installation and maintenance * Scripting language and automation experience (Bash, Perl, or Python preferred) * Knowledge of IP protocols/service (DNS, DHCP, NFS, SMTP, NTP, LDAP) * Knowledge of DevOps principles and practices * Experience with a configuration / deployment tool such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet * Experience with MS SQL Server * Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMWare and HyperV * Experience with configuration/capacity planning, as well as systems performance analysis and optimization * Experience in Hadoop or Vertica administration a huge plus! **Education, Training and Travel** * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field **Communication and Cognitive Abilities** * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities * Ability to operation in a fast-paced environment with short delivery times * Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences * Self-starter ability to drive projects forward with limited oversight * Analytical problem solver with the ability to think outside the box * An aptitude for applying lessons learned in seemingly unrelated problems
