Summary
Leads all finance, accounting, reporting, and control evaluations for NRG’s assets at Goal Zero, ensuring proper controls are in place to track and record all accounting activities. Also oversee and update full year forecasts and budgets for the Goal Zero business unit. Provide support and assistance to all stakeholders within the accounting & FP&A departments and Goal Zero management.
Responsibilities
* Serve as member of Goal Zero executive management team providing guidance and support to achieve overall Goal Zero goals * Overall review of accounting, financial reporting, and analysis for Goal Zero business. * Oversee accounting functions necessary to achieve an accurate and timely general ledger month-end close. Oversight will include journal entries, analysis and adjustment of income statement and balance sheet accounts, including AR & AP. Also includes, supervision and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and disposition of reconciling items. * Review and analyze financial results and initial understanding of monthly and quarterly earnings variances against budgets, forecast and prior periods. Provide written variance analysis to the Financial Planning and Analysis Department. * Responsible for supervising and directing the preparation of annual budget plan and quarterly re-forecasts for projects within Goal Zero in accordance with instructions and time table established by the Financial Planning and Analysis Department under the direction and review of the Sr. Accounting Manager. * Assist as needed with the preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and SEC regulations. * Manage process for researching and resolving technical accounting issues, including actual research and resolution when appropriate. * Develop and publish daily, weekly, and monthly performance analysis reports in conjunction with Goal Zero management team needs * Additional responsibilities will include assistance with special projects including due diligence and regulatory requests. * Monitor the internal control environment and ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley Sec. 404 legislation as it relates to the work processes for Financial Reporting and Corporate Accounting department. Propose process changes to strengthen the control environment. * Act as primary Goal Zero accounting liaison with NRG Internal Audit and External Auditors providing support and guidance in preparation of schedules and other analysis in support of the annual and quarterly audit. * Provide leadership and supervision to accounting staff. Assess performance and provide timely feedback, making developmental decisions according to company policy. * Additional duties as assigned. * Preparation of discounted cash flows and annual asset impairment testing in accordance with GAAP.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting with six to ten years of experience in general financial accounting, reporting, budgeting and forecasting. * Strong knowledge of US GAAP required; CPA and prior Big 4 experience is strongly preferred. * Knowledge of consumer product revenue recognition to retailers and distributor * Knowledge of consigned inventory * Ability to resolve complex accounting issues with multiple company structure, standalone reporting entities and consolidation. * Experience with SAP, MAS/Sage 100, Hyperion Financial/Planning Management systems is preferred. * Prior energy industry experience and knowledge of ISO regulations and power trading is preferred. * Prior supervisory experience including conducting performance reviews required. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of management. * Ability to respond to changing demands from multiple sources. * Advanced Excel modeling skills required and basic database use skills preferred. * SEC reporting experience preferred. * Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills. * Willingness to travel periodically
