Summary
Responsible for managing sales operations, related administrative services, and support functions for sales teams as assigned by region. This position will be accountable for managing the sales performance through sales coaching, mentoring, training, and performance management.
Responsibilities
* Meet sales goals & objectives for designated area. * Manage staff to meet all sales metrics assigned to the teams. * Set operational performance goals and metrics and monitor sales performance. * Manage, monitor, report, motivate, coach and train Retail & Event sales team members, including Sales Agents and Team Leads, to ensure optimal performance. * Actively seek methods to improve sales capture, performance, products, processes, and training. * Innovate and implement specific management activities to increase penetration and expansion of area * Work with stakeholders across departments to support sales efforts, including: HR, accounting, marketing, legal, public relations, peers in other markets, sales analysts, and others. * Coordinate with Quality Assurance staff and QA initiatives to ensure accuracy of messaging and utilization of appropriate sales tactics * Communicate and facilitate safety alerts, best practices, and a safe work environment * Oversee scheduling to ensure sales productivity is maximized and quality or safety risks are eliminated * Provides regular sales performance, safety, and quality updates and recommendations to senior management * Ensures that all designated sales team personnel understand and follow their current job descriptions. * Ensures sales teams have an adequate supply of all necessary equipment and sales/marketing materials. Tracks inventory and prevents loss of field equipment * Conducts interviews and recruiting efforts for open sales & support positions. * Conducts routine field visits to inspect sales activities and ensure maintenance of standards. * Lead by example in the field by Selling/Closing prospects for Green Mountain Energy® Pollution Free® Electricity and other products/services * Supervise event sales shifts and sell effectively alongside agents and Team Leads. * Lead by example in the field by maintaining messaging and brand identity during the sales process * Lead by example in the field by fulfilling personal sales goals and expectations * Work with full-time staff and team members to support agent recruitment activities; Participates in recruiting activities and initiatives to ensure adequate volume and caliber of agents for each sales team * Work with full-time staff and team members to locate and secure new sales venues, as well as to maintain and strengthen existing partner relationships * Work with full-time staff and team members to ensure sales venues are properly equipped with materials and appropriate staffing for optimal sales results * Shares and proliferates best practices across all teams * Establishes effective reporting and communication with sales teams to ensure all are properly informed of management expectations, polices, procedures and programs. Sets goals in NRG Quad. * Provide detailed weekly and monthly performance reports to the NY Market Leader * Completes tasks correctly and in a timely manner, including: * Tasks toward completing payroll and other compensation activities * Managing and approving Team Leads and sales teams’ expense reports * Sales analysis/tracking/reporting. * Periodic reviews of training materials, job postings, growth plans, and various protocols * Attend and/or host sales meetings and sell in the field. * 40% travel.
Ideal Candidate
**Education:** * Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred. **Experience:** * 3 – 4 years sales management or other leadership experience. Face-to-face customer interaction, sales and/or energy-related experience preferred. **Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** * Background with direct outside sales, training, and/or operations. * Knowledge or aptitude of Microsoft Office suite of products. * Ability to learn and navigate software and online systems. * Strong internal and external service orientation. * Reliability, self-discipline and strong work ethic. * Ability to work as part of a team. * High level of honesty and integrity. * Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. * Capacity for sound business judgments and decisions including seeking guidance where needed. * Strong leadership skills including leading by example. * Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including preparation and execution of effective training and speaking to a group. * Results oriented. * Knowledge of Upstate NY including urban areas, demographics, and geography ranging from Westchester to Albany to Buffalo.
