Responsibilities
This position is responsible for technical planning, design, construction, training, and support activities for technology- enabled classrooms and meeting rooms on the MSU-Bozeman campus. The person in this position manages audio/visual (A/V) equipment and software installed in technology-enabled classrooms and meeting rooms; provides technical support for faculty, students, and others in the daily use of classroom and meeting room A/V equipment and instructional software; consults with faculty, campus planners, and architects on equipment needs for classroom and meeting room installations and modernization projects; conducts individual training and group workshops to orient faculty and staff to the use of technology installed in classrooms and meeting rooms. Duties and Responsibilities 1. A/V Equipment and Software Management 2. Manage A/V equipment and software installed in technology-enabled general classrooms and meeting rooms. 3. Maintain and track equipment inventory. 4. Monitor technology-enabled classrooms and meeting rooms to determine maintenance needs, equipment replacement needs, and/or identify enhancement opportunities for these rooms. Provide proactive hardware and software maintenance and updates. 5. Develop and maintain user documentation for operation of classroom and meeting room A/V equipment and software. Customer Support 1. Provide technical support for faculty, students, and others in the daily use of classroom and meeting room A/V equipment and instructional software. 2. Communicate with technical and non-technical personnel. 3. Research and interpret technical documentation. 4. Analyze, troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve A/V equipment problems. 5. Solve problems through analysis and deductive reasoning. Installation 1. Consult with faculty, campus planners, and architects on equipment needs for classroom and meeting room installations and modernization projects. 2. Plan, design, and install A/V instructional technology solutions in MSU classrooms, labs, and conference rooms. 3. Research and recommend new A/V technologies and instructional applications. 4. Install classroom A/V equipment, control systems, and software. 5. Accurately track and record time and materials for consultations. 6. Bill for work performed. 7. Develop cost estimates for new installations. Training 1. Conduct individual training and group workshops to orient faculty to the use of technology installed in classrooms. 2. Collaborate with users and other departments to provide training on the effective use of A/V equipment, instructional hardware and software, and related topics. Security Responsibilities 1. Follow information security best practices and abide by University security policies and the guidance of the Enterprise Security Group. 2. Positively communicate and encourage security best practices throughout campus.
Ideal Candidate
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills 1. Minimum of two years (Level II) / six months (Level I) of education and/or experience in the installation and maintenance of A/V equipment or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. 2. Experience with A/V equipment and control systems and best practices associated with installation, configuration and operation of A/V equipment and best practices associated with the operation of installed A/V equipment and software. Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills 1. Experience with hardware and software installed in technology enhanced classrooms. 2. Experience with effective training methods and material design.
