Summary
Leidos is seeking a Senior Tax Reporting Manager in the Reston, VA headquarters. The Tax Reporting role is primarily responsible for the calculation of the quarterly tax provision and related disclosures required in Leidos’ Annual and Quarterly filings with the SEC. The successful candidate will work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and outside consultants to maximize performance and problem solve. He/she will also be expected to partner effectively with Accounting and applicable business departments on various projects as needed. The ideal candidate must possess experience in interpreting and implementing the concepts of the FASB’s standards for Income Tax Accounting under ASC 740 and analyzing and reporting uncertain tax positions under FIN48, a detailed understanding of the reporting and disclosure requirements for publicly held companies and an ability to analyze and evaluate complex tax reporting issues resulting from Leidos’ business and tax compliance.
Responsibilities
- Managing the quarterly global ASC 740 tax provision and reporting process - Assisting in the review of the quarterly tax provision, including all workpapers and evidence developed, in support of the quarterly and annual SEC filings - Preparing disclosures and financial statement footnotes in accordance with SEC and ASC 740 requirements - Monitoring the integrity and accuracy of the federal, state and international tax accounts both current and deferred on the company’s books including reviewing international and domestic tax provisions prepared by foreign and domestic subsidiaries - Calculating foreign tax credits including taxes on undistributed earnings of foreign subsidiaries - Identifying, quantifying and documenting uncertain tax positions as required under ASC 740 - Preparing effective tax rate actual and forecasts including analyzing, explaining and reporting effective tax rate implications and issues - Researching tax financial reporting requirements to ensure accurate reporting - Maintaining and monitoring department compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures including assurance that SOX 404 procedures are documented and followed - Identifying federal, state and international book/tax differences as part of the annual tax provision preparation - Maintaining up-to-date process documentation (e.g. desktop procedures) for significant areas of responsibility; recommending and implementing process improvements, as appropriate, to simplify, standardize and streamline efforts - Reconciling tax reserve balances every quarter to the exposure analysis - Mentoring and developing staff to increase the productivity and efficiency of the team. This includes but is not limited to, establishing goals, assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving guidance to staff, conducting performance evaluations and developing performance improvement plans.
Ideal Candidate
**Required Education, Skills, and Experience:** - Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university, Master’s degree in Taxation preferred - 4 years of management experience - Must hold an active certified public accountant (CPA) license - Must be a U.S. citizen due to the nature of government contract work - A minimum of 7 years of corporate tax experience including 3 plus years in public accounting with an emphasis on ASC 740 and FIN48 - Proficient with technical ASC 740 concepts and calculations, including accounting for uncertain tax positions - Strong computer skills, especially OneSource Tax Provision and Microsoft Office **Key Skills for Success in this Role/ Competency Based Qualifications:** - Strong accounting, analytical and tax technical skills - Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability, and strong project management skills - Critical thinker with excellent written and interpersonal communication skills - Strong organizational skills with ability to work both individually and as a team member - Able to synthesize complex and diverse information to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner - Practical experience in supervising other professionals including delegating technical projects, motivating employees, communicating technical and administrative issues, mentoring and developing employees
