Summary
The focus of this position is on the development and enhancement of real-time computer vision algorithms to generate measurements for purposes of own platform localization. Our team primarily supports algorithms research and development as well as advanced prototyping for customers including DARPA, NASA, Air Force Research Laboratory, and Office of Naval Research. Projects involve small teams of engineers (typically 3-5 engineers) working together in spiral or agile development environments to meet aggressive customer schedules aimed at near-term field demonstrations of advanced capabilities. This position requires US Citizenship; the candidate must be a US Citizen who is capable of receiving a DoD Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time in order to fulfill this role.
Responsibilities
* Develop and integrate computer vision algorithms, including feature extraction, feature/template matching to geographic information system (GIS) sources, optical flow, visual odometry, and Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) * Support development and integration of vision algorithms with optimal estimation / navigation fusion algorithms, including Extended Kalman Filters, Unscented Kalman Filters, and Particle Filters * Develop and utilize simulation testbeds to support vision algorithm testing and assessment * Support integration of software into real-time embedded software architectures, including straight Linux, the Robot Operating System (ROS), and Linux-derived commercial RTOSs * Support system field testing on a variety of platforms, including aircraft, ground vehicles, and naval ships. Testing typically lasts for 1-2 weeks. * TA_4
Ideal Candidate
* BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent * US Citizenship; additionally, the candidate must be able to receive a DoD Secret clearance * 4+ years of computer vision algorithm development experience * Strong experience programming in C/C++, MATLAB, and Python * Experience with ROS and the OpenCV computer vision library * Experience working with various sensor types, including visible and IR cameras (mono and stereo) as well as supporting sensors (inertial measurement units, GPS, etc.) * Experience with the Linux operating environment * Experience using version control (Subversion, GIT, etc) and continuous integration (Jenkins, etc.) software tools **Preferred Qualifications:** * MS or PhD Degree in CS, EE, CS, AE or ME * Active DoD Secret clearance * Experience with Simulink and Model-Based Design techniques * Experience with interface communication standards / protocols including RS232, RS422, TCP/IP, and UDP * Experience with autonomous system development through robotics competitions *
