Lehi Valley Trading Company is a family owned business based in East Mesa. We specialize in snack food wholesale, private labeling and retail brands. We have nearly 30 years of experience in the food industry and manufacture many of our items such as granola, popcorn, brittle and trail mix at our facilities.
Summary
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for all activities in the Shipping and Receiving departments. Manage ordered materials, stocking inventory, monitoring inventory levels, shipping product, negotiating freight and maintain a clean and safe working environment. The manager will also implement organizational processes and policy changes, prepare progress and status reports, analyze data for operating decisions, activities and forecasting. The manager will inspect the conditions of facilities and equipment, schedule product transportation, monitor operations systems, resolve customer complaints, negotiate contracts for transportation, monitor resources, develop strategies, plan and implement improvement and sustainability actions.
Responsibilities
* Supervise the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, testing and shipping products or materials. * Interview, select, and train personnel. * Plan, develop, or implement warehouse safety and security programs and activities. * Issue shipping instructions to ensure delivery times and locations are coordinated * Confer with department heads to coordinate warehouse activities, such as production, sales, quality control, purchasing and customer service. * Review invoices, work orders, consumption reports, or demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods. * Inspect physical condition of warehouse, equipment, maintenance, repairs or replacements. * Respond to customers’ or shippers’ questions and complaints regarding storage and distribution services. * Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping or salvaging products. * Develop processes for examining both inbound and outbound products, tracking and tracing goods within the facilities and analyze aging and usage. * Negotiate with carriers for services and preferential rates and advise sales and billing departments of transportation charges that are outside of the norm.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree in Business as well as 7-10 years of experience, knowledge and skills in the Warehousing and distribution of food products. * Must have food safety knowledge and experience such as FDA, GMP, SQF, and HACCP. * Must have knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning and resource allocation specifically with principles and methods of moving food by road including the relative costs and benefits. * Must have excellent communication skills both oral and written to convey information or ideas effectively and the ability demonstrate active listening skills. * Must demonstrate critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning skills to identify the challenges and opportunities of alternative options. Analyzing information and evaluating options and implement the best solution. * Must have excellent skills in negotiation, persuasion, judgement and decision making to be successful in considering relative costs and benefits of actions and take positive financial decisions. * Must demonstrate excellent monitoring and assessment skills to make improvements or take corrective action for both employees and organization. * Must have excellent skills in coordinating resources as well as conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance and troubleshoot and determine causes of operating errors and finding solutions. * Must have excellent interpersonal relationships to be able to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships across the business. Dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations. * Must have knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods. * Must have experience in motivating, developing and directing people and identifying the best candidates. Be able to encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members. Must have the successful experience in creating an environment that brings employees together and reconcile differences. Must also have some training/instructional experience appropriate to mentor and provide guidance to staff. * Must have excellent time management skills. * Must have excellent knowledge and skills in computers Excel, Outlook, Internet browsing and practical application of mathematics to solve problems. Must also have knowledge of bar code technology and electronic data interchange. * Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. * Must have forklift experience. Must be able to lift 50 lbs unassisted.
