Summary
Continually assesses and updates quality systems, procedures, methods and processes to assure all raw materials and processed products comply with established quality specifications and customer requirements. Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behavior, which may lead to accidents.Continually endorses the Quality Policy and assures conformance to all requirements in the quality manual to maintain quality certifications and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
* Establishes and maintains a proactive in process HACCP system for all processed products with interactive involvement by Quality Staff. SQF practitioner in charge of implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of SQF 2000 System. * Monitors and maintains the corrective and preventive action program for troubleshooting production concerns and customer product issues. * Implements and maintains a statistical analysis and process control program to continually manage and improve the quality of products. * In conjunction with Product Manager, Manufacturing Manager and Technical Service Manager prepares and updates all raw materials and finished goods quality release specifications. * Monitors and responds to customer complaints regarding quality of products and customer concerns. * Manages the Food Safety, GMP, and plant hygiene programs for compliance and notifies appropriate supervision if non-compliance is detected. * Ensures all quality records and systems are updated and meet SQF standards and requirements. * Continually evaluates the skills and training needs of all laboratory technicians and recommends appropriate actions and training programs for continued education. * Oversees facility pest control program. * Prepares departmental budget to incorporate into the annual operating plan (AOP) and monitors and controls expenses to meet budget. * Manages customer, Quality, and Regulatory facility and Quality systems audits. Prepares for, coordinates, and oversees. * Audits and inspects third party toll packers to meet or exceed our HACCP and quality expectations. * Learns and understands lot traceability, product release and item transfers using Mapics. * Attends and participates in the bi-weekly managers operations meeting and daily stand-
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s or higher Degree from an accredited institution, in Microbiology, Food Science or related field. * Five years experience in fermentation, food or pharmaceutical industry. Total Quality Management, HACCP, SQF, statistical process control and analysis experience is preferred * Interpersonal communication skills, computer competency including LIMS required. Certification as a Quality Manager by ASQC is desired.
