One of his first late-night creations was a small piece of open-source software that enables images and sound to play on the Internet. Jeroen was still in college when his product became the basis for YouTube, which relied on JW Player until it was acquired by Google.
A Software Engineer in Automation delights in never doing something by hand more than once. JW Player is looking for a talented Software Engineer experienced in building test automation frameworks, and automation of the build and deploy process. This role will embed on the Data Team and will be focused on automation of Big Data products.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with development teams to understand how development changes impact ongoing automation efforts
- Automate the build and deployment process for the Data Team
- Build full-stack automated test frameworks
- Develop automated tests to validate Big Data solutions (1-2 Terabytes per day)
- Take an active role in increasing the percentage of automated versus manual test cases
- Work as part of a scrum team in an agile environment
Requirements
- Experience with CI/CD solutions (Jenkins, Hudson, Bamboo, etc …)
- Experience with automated test frameworks (Selenium, Cucumber, Python UnitTest, Robot, etc…)
- Skilled in analyzing requirements & acceptance criteria, determining new test cases that should be created and identifying regression test cases to be updated
- Ability to learn new technologies, tools, and processes quickly
Bonus Points
- Experience with load testing frameworks (Bees with Machine Guns, Locust.io)
- Experience with Big Data technologies (Kafka, Hadoop, Hive, Storm, Trident, etc…)
- Experience with DevOps automation frame works (Salt, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc…)
- Familiarity with HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS
- You’ve held a developer role in the past
- Familiarity with test-driven development (TDD), unit tests, and behavior-driven development (BDD).
