Summary
Our Marketplace Attendants will work in various roles and rotate throughout the Marketplace to ensure our guests are taken care of. Roles include: barista, cashier, stock person, ambassador, prep person and any other position needed.
Responsibilities
* Perform opening and closing procedures as determined by management. Check in with supervisor/manager before leaving. * Acknowledge guests upon entering the Market using the Island Hotel Service standards. * Understand and practice empowerment. When assistance is needed, inform the manager, but do not let a guest leave the Café/Market dissatisfied. * Be knowledgeable and able to communicate about our food and beverage items offered, including ingredients, recipes, and methods of preparation to customers and employees. * Upsell guests on additional items available on the menu or specialty items. * Promote teamwork to further enhance the guest experience and provide a high level of customer service. * Assist with running food orders from the kitchen and serve at counter or dining area according to procedures. * Report any/all food problems to Chef and manager(s). * Use point of sale MICROS equipment efficiently. * Follow correct cash and check handling procedures. * Control usage of all food and beverage items and appropriate usage of equipment, tools and service equipment. Observe daily conditions of all physical facilities and equipment in the Marketplace. Make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed. * Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety standards maintained for guests and employees. Ensure that all aspects of the Marketplace are visually appealing and attractive to guests. * Maintain a high standard of personal appearance, abide by uniform guidelines and maintain a high level of hygiene at all times. * Attend and contribute to staff and departmental briefings, meetings, and hotel training as scheduled. Keep up to date with departmental bulletin board and daily briefing sheet in order to remain current on information reading the day's business. * Perform other tasks or projects as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
Minimum Qualifications - Education & Experience * 1-2+ years food and beverage serving and/or related food and beverage experience, specifically “Latte art” preferred * Must be a self-motivator and have the ability to be dedicated to staying on task. * Experience in the hospitality industry or high volume market grab and go environment. * Possess excellent customer service, communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills. * Strong technical skills (computer, POS, billing, reports, MS Office, etc.) * Valid Serve Safe CA Food Handler card required.
