The Design Director will lead agency design efforts, from initial strategic concept to scalable creative solution. Must be comfortable executing concepts in print, digital and experiential.
This role is highly collaborative and involves working closely with the internal team, clients, partners and vendors. The Design Director will also be responsible for recruiting, sourcing and managing internal design team and external creative partners such as freelance designers, spatial designers, photographers, videographers, artists and writers.
- Ideate and develop design concepts, inspiration, research, design presentation decks and general management of a dynamic spectrum of clients
- Direct, manage and inspire internal creative team and external collaborators
- Facilitate the creative and conceptual frameworks for projects
- Participate in presentations and strategy sessions with clients and partners
- Work in collaboration with internal team to translate client business strategy into design systems and experiences
- Manage design processes to ensure timely delivery of designs
- Respond to client/partner feedback and steward the creative integrity of projects from development to execution
- Prepare documents to communicate ideas to clients including proposals, presentations and reports; source references from the worlds of design, art, film and music
- Keep up with latest best practices, trends and industry techniques to share ideas and knowledge with team
- Steward the strategic development of the Imprint Projects brand, enforcing identity and help explore growth opportunities both internally and externally
- 8+ years experience working as an Design Director or Creative Director within a fast-paced advertising, branding or marketing company. The role requires the ability to think and manage at a highly conceptual level, while remaining involved in the everyday details of design work and production. In addition to the standard suite of design programs, excellent writing skills, a strong interest in branding and familiarity in current digital platforms and technology trends is required.
- Strong design background; a profound understanding of typography, layout, form and color; versed in design process and production methods
- Strong written, verbal, organizational and time management skills
- Experience in building and leading creative teams
- Comprehensive knowledge of emerging creative technologies, best practices and experimental approaches in marketing and brand communications
- Ability to scale ideas/solutions to budget, brand needs, timelines, environments, etc.
- Expert-level knowledge in all current design software
- Experience working with freelancers and vendors
- Experience with project management tools for collaboration and tracking of design tasks/progress
