Summary
The Vice President, Math Professional Learning Math Services is responsible for leading the Math Solutions Professional Development team to deliver a wide range of HMH services offerings. This role is responsible for leading the math service team to achieve specified delivery metrics, delivery and backlog. The VP will ensure the quality of services is maintained at the highest level. The VP will lead the team to develop strong customer relationships, often working with Math Solutions Executive Directors/HMH Sales to recommend services.
Responsibilities
• Ensure that the department has the necessary qualified employees to deliver outstanding services. Develop systems to hire, educate, coach, supervise, and assess the performance of the professional learning team members. • Provide Professional Learning in the area of management of people to Senior Directors of Math Professional Learning, Directors of Math Professional Learning and Project Managers. • Institute professional learning and performance management programs for all professional learning employees. • Develop the process and systems to effectively manage the department and strengthen intra- and inner-department communications. • Supervise and support the work of the Senior Directors of Math Professional Learning and the Director of Recruiting and Consultant Development. Support Sales Team • Work collaboratively with sales to support revenue generation. • Provide guidance for proposals based on company guiding principles for professional learning. • Participate in high-level district meetings as needed. Represent Math Solutions at customer meetings, conferences, various events. Present when appropriate. • Work collaboratively with team members and sales in supporting pre-sale and post-sale projects. Build Capacity of the Professional Learning Team • In collaboration with the Director of Recruiting and Consultant Development and Senior Directors of Professional Learning, support the implementation of best-practice for consultant delivery of services, monitor quality of service delivery, and other consultant performance metrics. • Lead teams to problem solve in order to match and meet client needs and expectations with delivery solutions. • Coordinate across teams to ensure department has adequate resources to deliver services. • Support team early in the planning process for large projects that may require atypical use of their time and resources to ensure needs are met and a thorough plan for implementing the project is in place. • Create and support the implementation of a plan for integrating the Math in Focus team into Math Solutions. • Create and support the implementation of a plan for having all HMH Legacy consultants complete certification paths as appropriate. Support Delivery of Services • Continually assess the quality and relevance of Math Solutions' professional learning programs and services. Analyze customer changing needs, trends in professional learning and funding, and the work of competitors. • Collaborate with Director of Content Development to identify development needs. • In collaboration with Senior Directors of Math Professional Learning, provide clear expectations for documenting and reporting implementation issues, successes, challenges, questions, and concerns specific to each aligned account on a quarterly basis. • Responsible for leading the professional learning service team to achieve specified delivery metrics. • In collaboration with the Director of Recruiting and Consultant Development and Senior Directors of Professional Learning create, implement, and monitor plan for regionalizing the consultant team. Communicate and Collaborate Across the Organization • Provide weekly updates to the Senior Vice President to report successes, challenges, needs, and recommendations. • Maintain ongoing communication with internal teams. • Collaborate with Senior Vice President for Program Services and Senior Vice President for ICLE. Cultivate relationships with counterparts in HMH Sales group and coach the Professional Learning team to do the same. Administrative • Direct the department's long-term and short-term planning and budgeting processes. • Manage department finances and control costs to maintain gross profit margin. Ensure that the department contributes to the overall profitability of Math Solutions. • Ensure the department meets delivery goals. • Serve as a member of the Leadership Team and relevant committees/task groups. Ideal Candidate
**Education & Experience** • Bachelor's degree in job-related discipline; advanced degree highly desirable • Extensive practical experience in curriculum and instruction • 10+ years management experience, specifically with managing budgets and resources, and preferably with a geographically dispersed team **Knowledge and skills:** • Able to communicate effectively with national/state/district leadership on key educational issues and customer needs • Expertise in district curricular needs and ability to develop/identify products/services to fill gaps • Experience in sales and/or implementation of products/programs • Possess excellent writing skills required to deliver effective proposals/business cases • Strong technology background • Strong presentation skills • Ability to work effectively as a team player and collaborate with both other regional and centralized Services colleagues • Considerable travel required **Physical Requirements:** • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing). • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings. • Must be able to travel 70% of the time with 50% being domestic air travel and/or 50% being driving between customer sites
