GAINSCO Inc., is a property and casualty insurance holding company. Through our insurance brand, GAINSCO Auto Insurance®, we concentrate our efforts on the non-standard personal automobile market, specializing in minimum-limits personal auto insurance. GAINSCO was established in 1978 as a Texas corporation and is based in Dallas, with a regional office in Miami. Our insurance operations are conducted through MGA Insurance Company Inc., a Texas corporation.

To assist the development manager in architecting sound solutions and policing the effective implementation of those solutions through effective team, communications, mentoring, code reviews, and project management activities.

• Design/Documentation:

  • We are an insurance company and have a multitude of systems and integration points with other internal systems and 3rd party systems.
  • It is paramount that we design efficient, redundant, and fault tolerant communications between the systems and provide excellent documentation and KB articles to help examine/explain the design in a group setting and delegate responsibilities clearly.

• Implementation:

  • Most of the hands on work will involve writing re-usable framework code and addresses existing architectural short comings with existing critical systems.
  • Some of the hands on work will be in assisting junior and other senior level developers with current projects.

• Project Management:

  • Like most companies, we have many moving parts and all successful projects take coordination with multiple departments and key business players.
  • Taking initiative, scheduling meetings, and educating others and setting appropriate expectations are a must.

Education:

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field

Experience:

• 6-7 years of solid technical experience; insurance background preferred

Skills and Abilities:

• The ability to handle complex problems effectively, separating complex issues and generating multiple solutions; Strong written and oral communication skills; analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment; experience working in a collaborative team environment.

Absolute Requirements:

• Experience and proficiency with the following:
  • Other: Requires Hands on knowledge of C#, ASP.Net MVC, ASP.Net Web Forms, TSQL, DB2, IIS, HTML(5), JQuery, LINQ, XML, BizTalk (a plus), Cryptography, Message Queues.
• Established Tenure preferred
