Summary
The Multifamily (MF) Underwriting team is seeking a MF Underwriting Manager. The hired candidate will be responsible for underwriting and closing mortgages for the Small Balance Loan (SBL) execution. They will be responsible for the credit quality of loans closed. They will work with the Chicago and Dallas Freddie Mac Multifamily regions, selected Sellers/Servicers and Borrowers. The hired candidate will also be responsible for educating all internal and external constituents on the SBL execution. The MF Underwriting Manager will evaluate proposed loans for credit risk, negotiate, and obtain deal approvals, oversee the preparation and issuing of commitments. This position may be located in Chicago or Dallas.
Responsibilities
* Managing a staff of up to twelve persons to size and underwrite loans for SBL in Chicago and Dallas * Drafting the policies and procedures of the execution * Determining which loan requests meet the program requirements * Determining the size of the loans to be made * Able to complete tasks under a deadline and handling multiple loan request * Participating in providing reporting and management feedback on these activities * Establishing and assuring adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements * Keeping abreast of market changes and product enhancements needed to remain current and competitive will also be amongst the responsibilities * Responsibilities entail creating and/or finalizing pro forma statements, I&E and rent roll analysis, review of third party reports, working with producers to structure deals, review of borrower financial position, market analysis, property inspections, presenting deals for approval * Receiving assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals * Providing guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies * Recommending changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization's operation * Position requires 25% to 40% travel
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications** * Minimum of 8 years of Multifamily and/or Commercial real estate experience * Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate , Economics, Business Administration, and/or equivalent experience * Prior formal management experience (at least two years) * Demonstrated experience in originating, pricing, structuring and negotiating Multifamily mortgage loans * Experience in business development and new product initiatives * Demonstrated strength in the following areas: - Preparation of projections, budgets and proforma statements, preferably in Multifamily - Credit skills experience **Preferred Skills** * 10 years of Multifamily and/or Commercial real estate experience plus two years plus of management experience * Demonstrated management of a staff * Excellent communication and presentation skills * Strong network of commercial real estate lending contacts * GSE origination and underwriting experience * Strong analytical and real estate finance experience * Excellent negotiation skills * Self-driven team player
