Summary
The essential responsibilities of the Automation Software Engineer are to create and modify automated tests using Java and Selenium based on manual test cases, functional requirements or existing functionality of the system. These automated tests are to be developed in keeping with or expanding the automation framework. The engineer will analyze test results and report any issues or defects found to the scrum team using Jira or Rally; participate in code reviews of automation code for compliance with department and team standards. The engineer will be an activate participant in all sprint ceremonies, story grooming activities, etc.
Responsibilities
* Designs/automates test flows within a test automation framework using Java, Selenium, Applitools and other technologies. * Executes tests for unit testing and regression testing for maintenance/project releases. * Analyzes stories, manual test cases and functional specifications to determine best approach for automating scripts. Participates in conversations surrounding story grooming, planning and implementation and incorporates learning into test activities. * Analyzes test results to report defects and issues found during test run. * Actively participates in all scrum activities with the scrum team in a highly collaborative environment.
Ideal Candidate
* Strong development skills with Java. * Excellent problem solving skills using Selenium, various browsers and web based application environments. * Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills, with both technical and non-technical associates. * Ability to comprehend complexity, to fully understand a product with all of its business and technological implications, and to approach the improvement of its quality from that perspective. * Strong willingness to work on an engaged scrum team. * Commitment to meeting agreed upon team commitments and deadlines. * High degree of efficiency and motivation in work habits in a challenging, fast-paced environment. * Strong knowledge of web based software systems, software as a service and quality practices. * Desire and ability to learn new skills and improve upon current skills.
