Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) is an office real estate investment trust (REIT) that specializes in acquiring, developing, owning, leasing and managing high quality office and data center properties.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the assistance in management and the provision of support for design services for the following company investments and work focus segments: - 1. New Development Assets - 2. Redevelopment/Repositioned Assets - 3. Capital Expenditure Investments - 4. COPT initiatives needing design support. Assist in the management of all phases of design, ensure high standards are upheld including service delivery and design integrity while creating value for the asset and the company. Assist in the inspiration, direction and management of various internal and external resources to achieve defined goals. Leverage previous work experience as a functioning architect to communicate, guide, and synergize COPT’s ownership needs at a project based level. **Secondary Responsibilities:** - Promote the development of both internal and external resources to meet the changing project requirements of the department. - Market and actively support the products and services provided by CDCS. - Share best practices and lessons learned to promote continuous product and process improvement. - Liaison with internal and external procurement to assure the accuracy of Bill of Materials and expeditious ordering and delivery of furniture, fixtures and equipment. - Assist regional COPT offices as needed. - Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications:** - Bachelor degree in Architecture; Dual degree in Architecture and Real Estate Development, a plus. - History of continuing education in field preferred - LEED AP with specialty preferred - 3 - 5 years experience in architectural field - Progressive increases in responsibility, i.e.: draftsmen, project designer, job captain or lead designer. - Documented work under a registered architect, IDP or other. - Portfolio of work examples reflective of large “Class A”, contemporary, dynamic projects. - Demonstrated work examples of design communication skills. - Demonstrated ability to execute complete set of architectural documentation. - Preferred concentrations in master-planning, commercial real estate (mid and high-rise design), hospitality, and mixed use design. - Ability to understand and leverage commercial leasing and development economics, critically analyze the relationships of these metrics and how they affect the design of our assets. - PC proficiency to include (but not limited to) Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). - Project scheduler such as MS Project - Proficiency with creative design software to include (but not limited to) Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, Photoshop, and Bluebeam. - Ability to adapt to and readily incorporate new or changing software programs. - Occasional travel may be required. **Other Requirements:** - Knowledge of workplace and building design trends. - Strong written and verbal communications skills for communicating across all levels of an organization. - Strong organization and leadership skills. - Demonstrated history of successful design presentations to key stakeholders, broad audiences, and the public. - Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. - Demonstrated skill and ability to prioritize, frame problems and pose solutions quickly and concisely. - Ability to accomplish objectives through influence and persuasion. - Excellent customer service capability with both internal and external customers.
