Summary
Provides support to the Sales and Marketing team at CIRI Alaska Tourism Corporation (CATC). Contributes to the successful implementation and execution of the CATC sales and marketing plan which includes tasks related to website content development, social media, email communications, development of traditional marketing collateral, promotion of Puffin Pass program, oversight of brochure distribution, coordination of FAM tours, preparation for events on CATC Sales travel calendar, and local sales efforts as required.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the administration of the Puffin Pass Program and email communication. - Maintain and update the website content on all CATC website locations in accordance with the Internet strategy plan. - Compose and coordinate the delivery of CATC’s email communication campaign to target audiences which may include FIT travelers, groups, wholesale, travel agents, media, and CATC or CIRI employees. - Review contact information on membership websites annually. - Gather price information and materials from multiple sources to support the ongoing projects included in the traditional marketing plan. - Support the sales travel schedule by assisting with the various tasks associated with trade shows (registration, materials, follow up materials). - Facilitate annual brochure inventory and distribution functions. Maintain reports of current inventory and distribution records. - Monitor and update photography and videos available for industry and media use. - Assist with the planning, coordination and administration of FAM tours for sales, marketing and media related guests; including but not limited to preparing printed collateral, web content, staffing booths, and itinerary and fam booklet preparation. - Participate in sales calls and reservation department product training. - Contribute to the planning, coordination and administration of promotional events, including, but not limited to, print and online ad placement and preparation, creation and tracking of promotional codes, preparing and activating landing pages and staffing. - Populate social media posts and trip advisor review requests for CIRI Alaska Tourism property social media sites, like and respond to social media posts. - Assist the CIRI Tourism department with various projects. Performs other duties as appropriate and as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
- Understand CATC’s mission, vision and strategic focus areas and incorporate knowledge into daily activities. - Knowledge of the Alaska tourism industry, including large and small tour operators, travel agents and industry organizations. - Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor; ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, affiliated-company employees, and outside business associates. - Excellent written and oral communications skills; knowledge of proper grammar and spelling; good vocabulary, editing and proofreading skills. - Ability to make decisions, solve problems and exercise good judgment; ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload. - Exceptional attention to detail. - Superior organizational and follow-up skills. Must be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines. - Proficiency in the use of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suites and industry-standard computer software and databases. - Working knowledge of web landing page function and basic web analytics required. Working knowledge of HTML, XHTML and CSS programming is a plus. - Proficient in a PC based ad design program such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator. - Willing to work extended hours, various shifts, on holidays and weekends and travel as necessary. **Physical Abilities** - Must possess sufficient fine motor skills for use of computers, calculators with an ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding for extended periods of time - Must be able to sit for extended periods of time - Must be able to kneel, bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis - Must be able to reach below shoulder height with regular frequency (desk position) and at or above shoulder height on occasion - Must be able to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basis - Must possess sufficient gross motor skills to operate a vehicle (if required) **Minimum Experience** - Some college education with an emphasis in Business, Marketing, Communications or other related field and two years progressively responsible related experience; or any combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. - Experience in the Alaska tourism industry preferred.
