Software Engineer, DevOps

Capital One is actively seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with expertise in applying DevOps practices while leading the technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems. You’ll have the opportunity to stay close to code while also providing functional, technical, and/or process leadership and leading or mentoring software engineers on complex and high priority IT projects.

* Lead and enable the application of “shift left” DevOps practices for multi-platform Agile application teams * Continuously improve and re-engineer the deployment process to push code faster through a CI/CD approach to achieve better quality, satisfy stakeholders and delight customers. * Collaborate and consult with developers, business partners, architects, and other groups to apply systems thinking to identify and eliminate constraints in the software development and deployment process. * Champion adherence to Agile and Lean principles, good software design practices, the application of Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD), Automation everywhere, and the daily delivery of high quality software. * Responsible for key system design and integration decisions around tools, processes and practices enabling teams to apply DevOps practices.

**Basic Qualifications:** * Bachelors degree or military experience * At least 2 years of experience working in an Agile Software Development organization * At least 3 years of experience in design and coding applications in Java, or .Net, or COBOL * At least 3 years of experience working in a Linux/Unix/Windows or IBM System Z mainframe environment * At least 1 year of experience implementing DevOps practices at scale **Preferred Qualifications:** * 1 Year experience working as a Linux/Unix Administrator * 1 Year experience developing applications on IBM System Z (mainframe) * 1 Year experience working in a Scaled Agile Facility (SAFe) environment * Year experience with Hudson * 1 Year experience with Jenkins * 1 Year experience with Urban Deploy * 1 Year experience with Red Hat jBPM * 1 Year experience using Serena ChangeMan on IBM System Z * 1 Year J2EE development experience
