Summary

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a cinematics production department manager who will partner with an artistic supervisor in the management of one or more departments.

Responsibilities

Candidates will be responsible for a team size of approximately 10 to 25 or more artists and / or technical artists and will report directly to a lead production supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with the artistic supervisor / s to create and manage macro and micro department schedules, and ensure timely and proper workflow though the department.
  • Attend director reviews, take notes, and execute direction given.
  • Proactively communicate schedules and issues with project producers and other departments clearly, quickly, and effectively.
  • Ensure production database is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Create and deliver performance reviews, in partnership with department supervisor, to provide clear feedback to each artist on an as needed basis.
  • Energize team morale, coaching, and other department activities.
  • Work with supervisors on hiring decisions that help achieve both the short term and long range goals of the team.
  • Oversee department wiki and ensure that all pertinent department information is available and organized.
  • Oversee timesheets including bi-weekly approvals, overtime, and vacation requests.
  • Organize, prioritize, and delegate daily tasks to individual artists.
  • Bid monthly overtime estimates based on project, schedule, and status.
  • Create weekly and special reports for senior management.
  • Build strong team relationships with supervisors, directors, and project producers.
  • Mentor and inspire associate production staff and production assistants to help them grow and succeed.
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to influence, motivate, and encourage supervisors and artists to reach their highest potential.
Ideal Candidate

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a department management or equivalent in the, film, television, and / or animation industry
  • Must have extensive knowledge and understanding of the 3D pipeline and workflow
  • Proven ability to execute and manage a wide range of personnel issues including recruitment, career development, salary administration, and conflict resolution
  • Adept at managing, empowering, and energizing a high-end group of artists in a dynamically changing production environment
  • Experience creating and managing macro and micro production schedules
  • Able to interact as part of a team and contribute to increasing productivity goals and efficiencies
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communications skills
  • Positive solution-oriented attitude
  • Able to think outside the box and be flexible in an ever-changing production environment
  • Excellent follow-up and follow-through skills
  • PC proficiency, including Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills
