Summary
As a BlackRock Merrill Lynch Investment Management Consultant, provide BlackRock's asset management capabilities and investment recommendations to top Merrill Lynch financial advisors and their clients. Be effective at problem solving to understand client investment need and link to investment solution from BlackRock's full suite of products (including Open-End and Closed-End Mutual Funds, iShares ETFs, Managed Accounts, etc.) Connect BlackRock resources and capabilities to the financial advisor and their clients to support the investment recommendation.
Responsibilities
* Execute US Wealth Advisory's mission "to help Financial Advisors build better portfolios that solve client challenges" * Drive the top client relationships within a concentrated geography and the delivery of BlackRock capabilities to maximize BlackRock asset and revenue capture * Primary responsibility is helping Financial Advisors build better portfolios to solve client challenges through delivery of BlackRock's portfolio construction and risk management expertise * This requires identifying client investment needs and linking to BlackRock solutions * Develop a deep knowledge of the Financial Advisor and their business model through profiling and problem solving * Exhibit broad knowledge for all BlackRock investment solutions, facilitating all specialist resources to deliver deep product expertise to clients * Partner with all field specialists from iShares, Active Product, Defined Contribution, Private Investors, etc. to support the top Financial Advisor relationships * Demonstrate fluency in various BlackRock tools and analytics including Aladdin Portfolio Builder, Portfolio Construction Services and BlackRock X-Ray * Broadly leverage all partners across BlackRock - including specialist teams, Private Investors, Marketing, Product Development, etc. - in creating a better experience for BlackRock clients * Converse knowledgeably with managers, top producers, and other key personnel in offices about the markets, firm views and BlackRock's house views * Coordinate tightly with BlackRock Investment Management Associate to augment efforts in the field * Utilize data effectively to drive territory decisions; read and interpret sales reports and other database information to dissect territory and enhance penetration levels * Present effectively in one-on-one, large groups and conferences * Create and maintain working relationships with coordinators, FAs, and other key "gate keepers" to maintain access to FAs * Partner with branch, regional managers, and other centers of influence to promote BlackRock Funds and iShares ETFs * Promote team morale and be open and helpful in working/training with other BlackRock partners * Manage budget to maximize time and resources * Demonstrate dedication to the company and colleagues' success and contribute to the group
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree required (MBA, CIMA, CFP a plus) * 5+ years as an experienced wholesaler (for external candidates), with demonstrated ability to build client relationships * Strong financial services background * Deep understanding of investment products and capital markets * Communicate effectively verbally and in writing * Excellent listening and profiling skills * Excellent sales and platform skills to provide valued added services to clients * Series 7 & 66 is required * 85% of travel is required * Experience training new brokers/employees
