Summary
Position is responsible for providing leadership to associates in the department and is responsible for coordinating and supervising maintenance tasks performed on facilities and equipment. The purpose for this position is to maximize equipment and facility effectiveness and to reduce unscheduled downtime and waste, and promote a high moral environment in the maintenance mechanics.
Responsibilities
* Supports without hesitation General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes & are Priority #1. * Assures that General Safety and Food Safety is an absolute priority by setting the example as a member of senior management. * Assures that Product Quality is an absolute priority utilizing IPM, Plant Teams and outside resources. * Supervises effective recovery of equipment failure within area through management of maintenance resources and effective communication with Production and Maintenance management. * Proactively identifies improvement focus areas/activities through data analysis. * Facilitates root cause problem solving by team members. * Works closely with Production Supervisors to enable effective maintenance support. * Ensures all new associates are supported during their induction period. * Ensures all associates in area attend training as defined in training and development plans. * Communicates clear performance expectations to team members. * Gives timely feedback, coaching and mentoring to team members to help maintain or improve expected performance. * Provides and promote a strong teamwork environment. * Ensures team members are working in a safe manner and in accordance with defined safety regulations and procedures. * Ensures equipment in area is maintained, guarded and operated in accordance with defined safety regulations and procedures. * Understands levels of scrap and rework in area caused by equipment issues and associated points of cause. * Uses effective data analysis and root cause problem solving to eliminate scrap and rework caused by equipment issues. * Understands and manages budgetary requirements for maintenance costs within area. * Identifies potential cost savings and cost avoidance. * Participates in budget planning for area and department. * Understands levels of line downtime caused by equipment issues and associated points of cause. * Ensures all work orders are generated correctly and in a timely manner. * Ensures all team members remove parts from inventory in accordance with inventory management system and procedures.
Ideal Candidate
* 3-5 years of experience in an industrial setting. * College Degree (or some college) preferred. * 3 years supervisory experience. A combination of education, training, and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted. * Electro/mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics system design and troubleshooting knowledge, capable of teaching, training, and sharing technical knowledge to associates, knowledge of bakery business equipment and process, knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller related to both programming and troubleshooting.
