Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible to ensure the safe execution of all maintenance and mechanical repairs for the Production Department. Additionally, the Maintenance Supervisor will need to supervise all facets of maintenance to ensure maximum operational potential is realized for the entire factory operation, with a minimum of expense and downtime, which is accomplished through preventative maintenance and immediate repairs of failed equipment. The Maintenance Supervisor will have between 18 and 30 direct reports and will be required to coach and supervise those hourly employees.
Responsibilities
* Maintain processing and packaging equipment in good operating condition to minimize downtime. * Assist the Maintenance Manager in the preparation of and adherence to annual maintenance budgets. * Train, coach, and hold employees accountable in a manner that assures maximum development and utilization of talent. * Support the safety programs and departmental safety requests. Develop a strong safety awareness and consciousness within the Maintenance Department. * Communication of all pertinent information to subordinates, peers, and supervisors both within and outside of the department. * Categorize and prioritize necessary work and integrate this into the current workload, while maintaining a low but complete inventory of required parts and materials. * Support Processing, Packaging, Sanitation, and other Production departments to the extent affected by the responsibilities of the Maintenance Department. * Preparation of necessary requisitions to ensure required parts and materials are at the plant site in a timely manner to avoid unnecessary downtime. * Coordinate and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program. * Perform hourly employee appraisals as required. * Recommend purchases of materials and equipment using budgetary constraints. * Participate in the continuous improvement process, and take an active role in process improvement initiatives, employee training, utilization of the continuous improvement process.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's Degree in a related field; * Three years experience in a maintenance role; * Administrative and supervisory skills and abilities; and * Technical knowledge of processing equipment, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and familiarity with machine shop, maintenance, and construction practices Compensation includes a competitive salary and excellent benefits.
