Summary
The Product Manager acts as the organizational business leader for their functional area across the full Benefitfocus technology product suite and is responsible for functional product definition, health and driving profitability of the technology product. This includes managing the product throughout the product lifecycle, prioritization and grooming of the product backlog for the given functional area, design oversight to ensure alignment to vision and leading cross functional teams including Product Ownership, User Experience, Quality Assurance and Engineering across multiple technology products to ensure execution of a cohesive customer experience. The Product Manager’s job also includes consultation and oversight with the Customer Development organization to drive alignment with product direction where necessary.
Responsibilities
* Maintain functional product area ownership and definition * Ensure high functional product area health (Quality, Scalability, Performance, Infrastructure needs) * Provide design oversight, coordination and solution direction * Maintain a prioritized investment backlog of market driven needs for the functional product area * Support Buy, Build Partner evaluations to support needs of your functional product area * Coordination with Product and Engineering leadership for large scale initiatives * Consultation with Customer Development at functional product area level * Key member of Design Authority - responsible for functional product area * Commercialization of key large scale features for functional area
Ideal Candidate
* Minimum of 2 years experience as a Product Manager or Product Marketing Manager * Minimum of 3 years of software product or support experience * Demonstrated success defining and launching products * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred) * Technical background, with experience in managing SaaS solutions * Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority * Must be able to travel 20% of the time * Examples and at least one sample of an effective document and presentation
