Summary
The position has responsibility for the growth and business success of the assigned product line and product category. The role is responsible for developing strategies and managing tactical execution of product growth and development plans.
Responsibilities
* The Senior Product Manager is responsible for comprehensive life cycle management of assigned products, such as printers, software and options; to optimize the market performance of these products in accordance with Company strategic and financial objectives. “Ultimately, the Senior Product Manager reconciles and processes internal and external inputs; establishes product direction, and coordinates and communicates the product plans that will achieve the Company’s goals.” * The position coordinates between departments to ensure marketing and technical requirements will be met for the product line assigned to the position; and manages product line maintenance activities to ensure the product line meets revenue and profit objectives. The product manager monitors product sales, pricing trends and margin levels against forecasted contributions, investigates deviations and contributes to determining and implementing corrective actions. * The Senior Product Manager is a partner to Product Marketing in ideation and concept generation for the purpose of new product development. The Product Manager can independently, or in conjunction with Product Marketing, develop business cases and Market Requirements Documents. The Senior Product Manager directs conceptual studies and generates product and design concepts for new product ideas, or significant complex enhancements of existing products. In the ideation process, the Senior Product Manager interfaces with engineering to determine feasibility, cost and development estimates for subsequent ROI analysis of proposed development projects. * The Senior Product Manager is a key member of the new product development teams; working closely with the engineering project leadership to ensure they develop products that meet functional specifications, cost and schedule goals. The Senior Product Manager is also a key member of the launch team, contributing to launch plans, collateral and communications content. * The Senior Product Manager monitors pricing and gross margin trends, investigates deviations and recommends appropriate corrective actions. The Senior Product Manager shares equal responsibility for List Pricing decisions with Product Marketing, which are coordinated through a joint Pricing Committee.
Ideal Candidate
**Education** * BA/BS; Technical degree in Engineering, plus an MBA is preferred. **Skills/Experience** * 5 – 10 years of industry experience, with a minimum of 3 – 5 years of product management experience in managing one or more product lines. * Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, managers, clients and customers. * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. * Ability to assess complex market landscape and create focused, integrated product plan. * Executive understanding of financial concepts including P&L, balances sheets, and ROI models. * Ability to create and implement product plans, with a proven track record of success.
